There are always those handful of designers you wait for, who also know this, and schedule their shows for the grand finale of fashion week in Paris. Louis Vuitton is no doubt eyeballed and anticipated anxiously by fashionistas alike to see what their vision for the following season of high fashion is. This time around, they did not disappoint with their Africa and Asia inspired dresses, gowns, and suits that were present with beautiful shades of gemstones on different textures.
With a collection that counts more than 50 pieces, I must highlight my ultimate favorites and bring you an idea of how this can be incorporated into your own style. For the eclectic fashionista, any collection, whether personally embraced or not, can be a springboard to inspiration on many levels.
Women’s cocktail dresses have been done and done again. The safe way to go would be to don a short mini-dress in a bold or demure color, depending on your mood and the venue for the night. However, what I saw from Louis Vuitton’s collection was an opportunity to change up our preconceived notion of what a women’s cocktail dress needs to look like, and open our minds to the more creative side of fashion.
Fringe has been an understated trend that has always been around in fashion, but has quietly been taken by a select crowd of those who dare to bear the flashy fringe. Louis Vuitton takes this to another level by adding colored fringe on their shiny metallic women’s cocktail dresses to create an almost flapper-like look with the women, who also are wearing flat sandals.
Women’s sandals are taking another turn for the simple and comfortable. From Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2011 Ready to Wear collection, we see that the simple T-strap sandals can be worn with even the most busy cocktail dresses from their high end line. For a collection of exotic and formal outfits, it’s an interesting blend of fashion to put a simple pair of flat sandals with the eclectic line of LV.
I’m sure we all have our favorite flat sandals we love to pull out with our casual wear, but now consider pairing your favorite women’s cocktail dress with a pair of simple women’s sandals. When your dress has the fringes that sway back and forth and has all the glitz and glamour of a flapper girl, try a pair of flat sandals with your dress and bring the chic back to a class dress with a modern day twist.
