I have to say that I wait very very anxiously to see what gorgeous costume-like collection Christian Dior will bring forth with their couture lines for the
spring. Recalling last year’s garden-state assembly line of beautiful flower gowns, I wondered how Dior would be able to top that show of gorgeous women’s dresses to take our breath away yet again a year later. But as we began to see the array of Dior’s new-age women’s dresses with Galliano’s famous flare, I was not disappointed with not only the line, but the makeup and hair of the models who were transformed from the newest generation of supermodels, to perfectly pristine porcelain figurines waltzing down a dreamy catwalk!
With John Galliano’s dramatic line, he paid tribute to René Gruau, who was the illustrator for Christian Dior in the 40’s and 50’s. His images brought legendary power to the fashion house and have paved the road for Galliano’s work today. The entire collection of women’s dresses had beautiful contrasting shades of a deep red with a charcoal black, or shades of blue tied together with long lines, tulle and feathers.
A trend spotted earlier this year on the streets, and now confirming its stay on the runways, are cutout high heels that are now serving as evening shoes with formal wear too. Whether you’re wearing a dress or a skirt in shades of pastels,
try a nude colored pair of heels even if you’re wearing the pinkest of pinks. One of my favorite pieces from Dior’s Spring Couture collection has to be a strapless pink women’s dress adorned with a dramatic bow up top and trails of feathers and flowers flowing down the right side of the gown. Many women choose to wear pink shades with their formal wear, and seeing as how dances and formal events are coming with the upcoming months, it’s time to consider what shoes to strap on to keep you floating around the dancefloor all night. Nude evening shoes are the simplest way to go without throwing off your color scheme but staying looking chic.
For darker colors, a sleek pair of cutout black evening shoes is the way to go. Cutouts that have unique and even a bit of a funky fresh look are the newest edge in black evening shoes. These high heels that almost look like Mary Janes with a peep toe and thin straps criss crossing your feet give you the perfect pair of heels to accompany you on your night out, but can also be worn to spice up your mid-day outfits too!
