Maximum Chic in a Maxi Skirt!
Wednesday, June 15th, 2011Whoever said that length doesn’t count, obviously hasn’t caught on to the newest trend in women’s clothing! Floor-length maxi skirts are all the rage and we have the newest way to style this alternative to women’s dresses that’ll surely be a favorite summer outfit for any women who’s on the go.
A look that pretty much dominated Coachella and the casual chic celebrities that look fabulous on their way to the grocery store (how do they do that??), the maxi skirt is your quintessential new piece of women’s clothing to resort to when you’re feeling any which way about your body, but want to look fabulous and chic. No matter what your height is, the maxi skirt will always flatter your figure and keep your legs looking lengthy.
Women’s dresses are always convenient during hot summer days/nights, but why not switch it up with a floor-length maxi skirt instead? These days, maxi skirts are pouring out with all different colors, patterns and even textures that we have an abundance to choose from. Skirts come pleated, sheer, layered and ruffled to satisfy the fashion senses of all women equally! So have your fun and try this new style at night.
Keeping Cool in Kimonos!
Friday, June 10th, 2011In light of the changing of seasons and the fabulous fashion at Coachella recently, it’s only right that we highlight one of the most endurable staples of bohemian trendy women’s clothing: the silk kimono. Although I’ve seen more of this trend on the celebrities that paparazzis snap photos of than in the streets, I believe a revolution is in order to really show the world how great these cultural pieces of trendy women’s clothing really are.
Kimonos come at different lengths, cuts and styles. These days, the cuts are more radical and we have kimonos that are floor length or cut short in the front and leave a tail in the back. Materials can either be rich dark colors or be a sheer light fade of a pattern or design depending on the designer. Whatever the case, and whichever style you love, there are three styles in which to wear the kimono and some of our favorite stars are showing us how.
Actresses Jennifer Love Hewitt and Eva Mendez have been seen wearing their style of the kimono styling it up the best they know how! Eva Mendez showed off her gorgeous legs by wearing a pair of denim cutoff shorts and a pair of black women’s sandals. Underneath her royal blue kimono, she wore a light heather gray t-shirt and a pendant necklace. The flat women’s sandals keep the outfit looking effortless and really comfortable actually!
Jennifer Love Hewitt keeps it classy with a teal dress underneath and those caged ankle booties we talked about before! Take any bold colored sheath or skirt and pair it with complementary colors in your kimono print and you can ditch your cardigan or jacket and look bohemia-ready in no time. Another way to snazzy up this outfit would be to wear a pair of women’s gladiator sandals with a mini skirt as well.
Last but not least, one of America’s sweethearts, mother and designer Nicole Richie wears her selected kimono with a pair of light faded denim skinnies and a pair of high heels. The high heels definitely takes this outfit from Coachella to Hollywood. So if you want to keep things low key, let’s substitute the high heels for a pair of women’s gladiator sandals! The easy movement of the silk kimono asks that we carry a lightheartedness ourselves by wearing it. So try to keep your groove smooth and your thoughts light and simple while styling up a fabulous silk kimono.

Bright & Business Forward!
Wednesday, May 11th, 2011With summer yawning and waiting just around the corner, it’s easy to plan ahead for your women’s summer apparel for the cool nights out on the town! Whether you’re dressed for work, or for a fun formal event afterwards, the piece of women’s apparel that has caught my eye for the upcoming season has become the women’s yellow blazer.
The rage being color blocking and all, it’s hard to ignore the bright hues that are littering the streets and store fronts. Bursts of colors make everyone smile as we see them bobbing up and down the sidewalks of the most fashionable avenues of the world. But many a times, we neglect our jackets during the warm weather seasons thinking of only what’s going to keep us cool during the day. But I’m here to prepare you for your fun filled nights where you won’t have to compromise fashion for a fun jacket to throw on over your outfit from the day.
This is where a yellow blazer comes in as an excellent piece of women’s summer apparel. Whether you’re wearing simple shades of black or white, or going all out with bright reds, oranges and blues, a yellow blazer will be the perfect way to seal the outfit with a certified punch of sunshine. Women’s apparel is an endless game of mix and match, and with color blocking paving the way for more mismatching being what’s innovative with fashion right now, a yellow blazer will work perfectly with your summer wardrobe!
Once I get my hands on my fitted yellow blazer, I plan on going wild with all the outfits I can put together with it. For the summer, a pair of striped shorts in a navy blue and white combo with a loose white v-neck shirt would look amazing with a yellow blazer on top and some brown strappy sandals to match. Summer wouldn’t be summer without a nice cotton dress with a floral print or a fun Aztec type print splashed across it. Pair it with a pair of heeled sandals and a light yellow blazer, even if it’s cropped or extra long (think Michael Kors-ish), it’ll add a sartorial edge to your otherwise sweet and simple summer outfit.
Blazers can also work in the office place as well for all you budding professionals out there! So don’t hesitate to try something bold in the office as you rifle through your work clothes. It’s always fun to stand out and be a little different from the waves of black and gray at the next water cooler meeting, so try something fresh and feel just as effervescent as the color you wear!
