Suited Up in Navy Blue!

Friday, March 4th, 2011

My favorite Vogue editor in chief, Anna dello Russo of Japan’s Vogue Nippon has done it again! Honestly, her daily outfits, which many times come straight off of runways, are to die for and I cannot help but be incredibly inspired and a wee bit envious of the world’s most fashionable woman! Taking cues from the fashion world’s elite, and staying true to sartorial details while paving the way for trendy women’s clothing, Ms. Anna dello Russo has now brought a more masculine tone to women’s clothing for all of us to see and appreciate.

Navy blue has slowly been coming up as one of the IT colors as seen in Armani Prive’s Spring Couture show. But if we even dial it back to a matter of months, we can also see DKNY also let it be known that the navy blue in suit form is going to be the ultimate urban chic outfit on a woman.

Trendy women’s clothing doesn’t always have to be newer inventions with fabric, but can simply be highlighting the classics that have already been done, but slightly forgotten. The tailored suit in a deep navy blue gives an almost collegic feel about it and gives you a good reason to pull out your favorite pair of women’s dress shoes! When looking for your pants that go alongside your suit, try finding a pair that can be hemmed just right so your women’s dress shoes can be fabulously hidden when walking, but slyly shown when sitting down and legs crossed.

Winter White Cardigans

Monday, January 17th, 2011

There is something quaint and nostalgic about seeing cardigans atop the shoulders of men and women alike. Perhaps it’s the timeless essence of the cardigan that keeps bringing it back to the forefront of our minds and of the world of fashion. In a throwback to earlier times, we still see today’s styles being that of older runway shows just circulated years later.

In 2006’s Chanel Ready to Wear collection, a long knee-length cardigan buttoned at the waist debuted with a pair of white ankle boots with their signature color shelled toe. From their runway show, we saw how Karl Lagerfeld took a simple piece of women’s apparel but turned it into a fashionable ensemble worthy of being dubbed high fashion. I’m a firm believer that it is not about the piece of women’s clothing that determines whether it’s praise-worthy, but rather, how you style it that makes it count, or not.

For Chanel, they took the knee-length white cardigan with black trim and delicately put on top a pair of denim knee-length shorts. This created a tom-boy look that is both academic looking and also casual but chic. Rather than putting on a pair of sneakers, a pair of white ankle boots brought the outfit together showing the relationship between the cardigan and the shoes as being a synonymous one.

With a modern-day return to the classy days of college-girl type fashion, it is imperative that we have a handful of oversized cardigans in our collection of women’s apparel. Your look doesn’t have to be high-end and high-priced, but you can find affordable women’s clothing that still boasts the same style.

Plum Purple Blouses

Monday, January 17th, 2011

It’s always fun to be a little spunky and wear colors that aren’t as prevalent during the given time. So while everyone’s pulling on their shades of black and their neutrals, try being one season ahead of the curve and dressing in some outstandingly bold women’s fashion clothing!

One color that I can never get enough of is the perfectly plum shade of purple! Whether it’s on a pair of high heels or another piece of women’s fashion clothing, you can always find a way to wear this shade no matter what the function or occasion. Purple is one of the richest colors on our spectrum and is able to go together, or separately combined with another spectacular shade for some amazing styles and outfits!

When doing our daily dose of online shopping, don’t skim past the purple explosions of colors you see in women’s fashion online. Purple is not always an easy color to wear, but it is definitely worth the time to style. Designer Max Mara put purple and purple together in a simple outfit for the upcoming Spring 2011 season with a pair of silver Mary Jane flats to go along with it. Minimalism is key for the New Year, and color combining is no different in following suit.

Women’s fashion online is quick to maintain the balance of upcoming trends and older ones that are slowly fading. So be sure to keep your eye out for the purple blouses that are already surfacing all over the place!

If you’re having a hard time finding ways to style this bright color, you can never ever go wrong with black. They do say black goes with everything, and they were not lying. Take your purple blouse and tuck into a pair of long flowy black trousers or a fitted black pencil skirt to create a Miu Miu looking office friendly attire. Pair that with black sling back high heels or high heeled Mary Janes, and your look will get an additional pump of chic!

Another shade that is rather unlikely but does indeed fit to match well, is the color of heather gray. Yes, it is a rather somber color to pair with the effervescent purple, but there really is nothing better than creating an oxymoron of an outfit by putting together two colors that are not accustomed to being partners. Pleated skirts are the new rage, and in a nice heather gray shade with a purple sweater or blouse with it, you will have the perfect campus-ready outfit. I can also see the modern daygirl wearing this outfit to work or just on a day out on the streets. Have fun!

White As Snow

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

One of fashion’s pieces of women’s apparel that works more of an accessory than an article of clothing, is our beloved fur. Whether you like fur or faux, this lovely texture can go magically with next to any winter getup and any pair of your favorite fashion boots.

The greatest contrast of colors that I think looks best on any woman, is between the classic colors of black and white. When I see any woman wearing white fur, it’s usually always with a hint or a flood of black textured clothing to go along with it. With the winter weather creeping up on us, you can stay warm with this bundle of fur and a fabulous pair of thigh high boots.

In the streets of Europe, with Fashion Week coming in and out of the major cities, models and fashionistas alike were seen strutting down the streets in this luscious fur coats and vests. In-demand model Abbey Lee Kershaw brought out her white fur coat with a long white sheer dress underneath. Not to fail the clashing of the color spectrum, she wore a pair of black fashion boots underneath to give the fair shade a bold ending.

And winter’s favorite women’s apparel pieces are new pants come in the form of leggings and the newly coined jeggings. Why not wear these stretchy little comforts with a comfortable sweater, oversized or fitted. Throw on the white fur on top to create a nice bulk to your shape and give you some warmth to walk around the chilly weather throughout your day. Whether you choose to wear thigh high boots or high heels, any drastic shape to your shoes can immediately glamorize your casual outfit.

A bigger trend in white fur, has been to find a beautiful lengthy knee-length coat to wear atop a sheer pair of stockings or leggings. The fullness of the fur coat makes it look like the coat is a dress in itself. You literally don’t have to worry about what you’re wearing underneath when the coat is the main showstopper.

But if you insist, I believe any black sheath dress, or a pair of leather shorts and a black sweater would look great underneath the white fur. A clean pair of stockings without patterns or lines looks classy with a pair of suede black ankle boots to top it all off. With so many ways to wear this white fur, take advantage of it coming into your line of vision as it’s sure to make its comebacks in the near future of fashion as well!
