Walking True to Blue

As I flip through my closet and look through my pants and jeans and see a forest of denim blues. But my fashion senses were tingling for more! With a turn in a wide legged and color blocking direction with women’s clothing, we can now find pants in my favorite shade of any kind of women’s apparel: cobalt blue!

Events are lining up for the onset of fashion week launching in Paris for men’s fashion, so we are set to see the trends filtering through Europe that will soon reach us. So imagine my delight when a color that has always held its place in my heart with women’s clothing, is now becoming more prevalent in the streets for fashionistas to flaunt and photographers and bloggers to document! The options we have when piecing together something with cobalt blue, are endless!

One unlikely combination of colors is wearing a pair of cobalt blue pants with a nude top. Women’s clothing looks best when you catch your viewers off guard so taking such a bold step and color like cobalt blue and mixing it with a soft nude blouse on top tucked in, looks amazingly chic. You can take two roads with the type of shoes you prefer to wear and it could either be a clean white pair of platform heels or a pair of brown platform heels. The reason for the platform and why it’s so necessary in this outfit is due to the pants.

There’s nothing quite like a perfectly fitted pair of pants on your long stems. Elongated pants with the right amount of drama in its swoosh is all we need for women’s apparel. Whether you’re tall or average height, the elgance in the free flowing material of these cobalt blue pants will make you look like royalty. White as Snow

We have a ways to go before we can start shedding our winter gear and amp up for a warm summer. But fear not fashionistas! We can still keep ourselves warm and fabulous in a unique white as snow white coat! Although I have always shied away from white due to its infamous personality in wanting to gather stains, we can always find inspiration from some of fashion’s favorite magazine editors to breathe new life into a simple piece of women’s apparel and have us falling in love with winter all over again.

One of Harper’s Bazaar’s editors around the globe, Christine Centenera of Australia’s Harper’s Bazaar always keeps the photogs busy with her constantly evolving style that honestly, makes me beyond envious. Her cuts and material of the women’s clothing she wears gives us constant inspiration and a quick reminder that you can take any piece of women’s apparel that might have just been an ordinary number in your closet and give it a completely different look with an edgier eye.

When you’re out shopping for a winter coat, we already know the obvious. The peacoat look with the lapels and the creative buttons that suit your fancy. But try the Christine Centenera approach to women’s clothing and keep your eye out for unique textures and not so ordinary cuts to keep such a simple and classic item in your winter wardrobe looking a cut above the rest with its details. When looking through different textures, don’t be shy in reaching out and touching it firsthand to get a good feel for it. One of my favorite texture that’s perfect for the winter weather is the tweed material we see on Chanel suits and Fall gear. Taking a material that is typically used for a type of outfit and usually arranged for a fashion season, and going in the opposite direction- this usually calls for some creativity and a bold personality to wear it and pull it off too! Slinky Snake Print!

There’s no doubt that color and prints have been the hit for the upcoming spring season. As fashion shows debut about six months early, they give us the preview for what to start stocking up on before it becomes a world-wide phenomenon in the world of street style. So I give to you the secret to Spring season’s success: plenty of snakeskin print!

We rarely see such a slithery print on women’s clothing as we’re more accustomed to seeing snakeskin print on fabulous thigh-high boots or on a soft handbag or clutch. But the ever-evolving world of high fashion gives us something new in women’s fashion clothing by challenging us to think beyond the perameters of what we know to do with something as slinky as snakeskin print.

For the modest of hearts, I would think as I myself am one at times when it comes to bold fashion, I would take it easy with perhaps one piece of snakeskin women’s clothing and start off simple. I am thinking a silk snakeskin print blouse in a pale pastel color or in the popular shade of taupe with a pair of wide legged trousers (to give ode to one of Fall/Winter’s hottest pairs of pants), or you can keep your rocker edge with a pair of leather pants or just plain black skinnies. Top it off with a pair of black high heels be it pointy toe, peep toe or strappy, I believe the snakeskin print on women’s fashion clothing gives you all the personality you need to tone down the rest of your outfit. Splish Splash in Pristine Patterns!

In all the dreariness of winter weather, the fun way to spruce up your day is to put on a fresh and loud print in women’s fashion clothing. Of all the seasons to bring about something citrusy and colorful, it’s as if the high end designers of the world all chimed in together to bring us something crisp to start a new wave in women’s clothing! The patterns we see these days are a lot of stripes and polka dots, plaid and stars, so it’s time to have some fun with the new prints of today.

The great Stella McCartney put together a throwback to the 90’s fruity print on simple shifts and sweet sundresses that fits and suits just about any age group for women. Whether it’s a warm summer day, or a chilly winter morning, you can always brighten up your mood and your wardrobe by putting together a fun outfit with a bold patterned piece of women’s fashion clothing.

With all the black and solid colored leggings and tops and bottoms of women’s clothing, we can always appreciate some balance and perhaps putting together such a bold ensemble may not be your thing. But you can always use bits and pieces of women’s fashion clothing with the right pair of women’s shoes to create a well-balanced outfit that will work for any occasion or for a simple day out too.

A shift or a dress works for simplicity’s sake and it also may work to your advantage with a cute pair of patterned tights underneath for warmth, but you can also pair a patterned blouse or shift top with a pair of black skinnies or your favorite pair of denims for a more casual modern look. Combine that with a pair of black high heels or a simple pair of women’s shoes, and you have your work cut out for you to hit any part of town and be a smash hit! (more…)

Playing in Plaid

When we think of women’s apparel patterns of 2011, we may come across ideas like stripes of Prada, stars of Dolce and Gabanna and animal print that belonged to just about every fashion design house across the globe. But taking a sneak peek into Spring 2012 fashion, we are going to start to see the emerging of a print that blew up in young pop culture fashion: plaid.

We’ve seen the endless amounts of plaid shirts that both boys and girls wore in just about every black and colored combo that is humanly possible to create. But women’s clothing is taking on the old but new trend of pairing up plaid on plaid. In the world of high fashion, we’re seeing a new turnover of the women’s suit into a pristine and preppy look that comes equipped with plenty of plaid!

On the streets we can also start noticing the plaid on plaid suits that are taking over fashionistas and celebrities too! It may be a bit much for those who aren’t used to or are comfortable with so much pattern on women’s apparel, but don’t be scared to be bold and experimental with pattern when it works with the same colored plaid.

When wearing plaid as women’s clothing and as a suit, you want to make sure you have the whole 3 pieces if you can. Wearing the flared plaid trousers looks fabulous with a plaid fitted vest is one of the most fashionable yet professional looks that will rings its way into 2012. The vest is perfect for warmer days where you don’t necessarily want to wear your jacket but want to chicly throw it over your shoulders. That way, the vest peeks underneath the flowy lapels of your plaid suit.

Today, we’re seeing a lot of loafers come into play with wide-legged trousers. In the past we’ve seen the loafers pair up with trousers as a very comfortable and work-friendly combination that will never let us down. However, when we are seeing the plaid suits worn by fashionable women coming in and out of fashion shows and strutting the streets staking their claim in the world of streetstyle, we are now seeing the organic and free feel of wearing a pair of women’s sandals with a plaid suit.

With open toe women’s sandals with just the right amount of strappiness, we can pair these sandals with a good fitted plaid suit with the matching vest and the perfect fitted jacket. Since plaid on plaid is such a bold statement, make sure to give it enough air with the perfect pair of sandals and a fitted vest to keep the outfit trendy and tailored.
