Hiking in Heels!

Friday, April 8th, 2011

The secret to staying in style with our winter boots this year has been to collect our favorite ankle boots in an array of colors and styles. This cute and sassy style of women’s ankle boots have been the hottest thing on the market and have a long way to go before retiring from the top spot. And just when you thought they couldn’t find a cuter way to style these ankle boots, here come your newest athletic vibe women’s ankle boots to give you a literal run for your money.

With all the varieties of black ankle boots to choose from, one of my favorite, and surprisingly versatile pair have to be the hiking ankle boots. These heeled little beauties create a very urban chic look that gives you the air that you’re about to embark on a light jog as you go from one fabulous destination to another. Time waits for no woman, and these hiking boots are no different. Celebrities have taken to them as well and given us plenty of style inspiration to choose from.

Vivacious Versace!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

One European house that never lets anyone down has to be that of Versace. For the pre-fall showcase, the designers at Versace unveiled a series of artistic pieces of women’s apparel, mixed with the new edge in women’s boots that keep us on the edge of our seats as we eagerly wait to see what we can start to piece together for our own wardrobe!

As shocking as this may sound, blue knee high boots are now looking awfully appealing in all the right ways right now! With a silk dress in a light khaki splashed with a crimson red and cobalt blue paisley arrangement, Versace’s always bringing us the newest and freshest looks of the more daring side of fashion. And what better way to wear this gorgeous dress that makes all 3 colors work together in a luxurious gaze than to don a pair of stretch knee high boots in a bold blue that keeps your colors all aligned but makes it pop in an understanding combination of neutrals and bright hues that just plainly work!

If anyone thought that bright patent leather knee high boots would be on the threshold of high fashion, I don’t know that anyone would nod their head and even consider the idea. But leave it to Versace to take something that may make one cringe with their own mental image of such a color combination, and whip up these creations that make you want to reach out and try this look on for yourself! Stretch knee high boots are always fun no matter what you’re wearing- whether they end up being the main event, or just peek out inbetween a skirt and a coat. But consider wearing a pair of knee high boots that are a loud pop of color to bring a new you out!

But my favorite look from Versace’s collection, and trust me, it was hard to just choose one, had to be the swimmers parka looking trench coat that took the shearling trend that’s everywhere right now, but making the fur lining red, and pairing those with knee high boots in animal print! I imagine it’s difficult to take what’s hot this season and put a spin to it that hasn’t been done before, but we give props to Versace for taking two styles that are rampant all over the malls and stores, and once again, bringing it to another level with their twist on women’s boots. Animal print will always be a staple in a fabulous woman’s closet, so shop Make Me Chic’s collection for your pair! Happy hunting!

Derek Lam’s Pre-Fall Perfection!

Friday, February 4th, 2011

For the Pre-Fall collection by one of fashion’s most prominent designers, California native Derek Lam went back to his roots with his very limited and personal looks that are giving us a reason to keep our brown ankle boots out all year long! Keeping in mind the waves of minimalism taking over the fashion industry, Derek Lam stuck to the key basics needed in the upcoming seasonal looks to introduce to us his signature pieces that are perfect for keeping women’s boots around!

How fitting that these outfits look very California cool as the weather here never really reaches the extreme temperatures of other areas around the States. So since we can always count on clear skies and 70’s weather, we can also count on our brown flat ankle boots being our go-to shoes no matter what we wear!

Singing in the Rain!

Friday, January 28th, 2011

As you wake up from a good night’s sleep and pull back the curtains to see what ensemble the weather will permit, cold winds and wet drops of rain typically don’t appeal to the fashion forward woman planning her getup. But with the onset of showers and rainstorms all around, it’s only right that we pull out our fashionable women’s rubber boots which are only fit for a season like this!

Fashionably speaking, any pair of women’s boots is acceptable to wear while singing in the rain, but soggy socks and the paranoia of damaged suede is almost too much to bear while splashing in puddles. Being an avid women’s rubber boots collector, I have to say, the benefits to wearing these indestructible boots during threatening weather versus more delicate women’s boots are endless.

I’m a stickler for fashion and function, as we all would love to be, but the creative end of fashion doesn’t always allow for these two ideals to coexist in one shoe! But with the comeback of printed women’s rubber rain boots, whether in rain or shine, we can really have it all! Even though the wind may be a bit tad chilly, it’s always delightful to see some bare legs in the winter days with a fresh pair of women’s knee high boots wrapped around them.

To beat the dull colors and styles of the dreary winter weather, spunk it up a bit by wearing a denim skirt with the edges torn and or a pair of denim shorts along with your winter gear on top. Yes, it is definitely permitted to hang on to your summer clothes even though the heat has been long gone. Because any pair of short bottoms can work with a pair of women’s knee high boots whether they be the lovable rubber boots with patterns or plaid on it, or just a sleek pair of suede boots.

Donna Karan’s Earthy Do’s

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Donna Karan’s Pre-Fall 2011 Collection has captured the hearts of many fashionistas in love with the comeback of earthy tones in just about every piece of clothing. There’s just something so urban chic about the tones of brown, khaki and olive green seeping into our wardrobes. And just in time for Fall, this pre-fall preview gives us a nudge in the right direction while we rummage through our goodies trying to find the perfect casual outfit to throw together.

With the comeback of minimalism mixed with an extra side of bagginess, Donna Karan’s collection debuts jersey dresses, coats and skirts with neutral tones that hang on a woman’s frame in just the right way. Not too tight, but just right! The flow of the material is divine and it will definitely fit any body form. Fashion, clothes and apparel are all meant to make a woman feel beautiful- and this means beautiful in whatever body type you have.

As long as you have the confidence to rock each season’s newest trends, you’re going to pull off anything you wear! So try some of the inspiring pieces that Donna Karan’s giving us! Look out for the olive green military-like shade in jersey dresses that will hang on your hips just right. Pull on a pair of dark brown women’s boots, whether they come up to the calf or knee, or even if it’s the lovely ankle boots I can’t get enough of. Brown is the perfect shade of women’s boots to be paired together with these lovely fall shades.

I imagine the chic woman wearing these urban shades while walking the streets of the downtown city in the cold brisk weather while stomping among leaves and shallow puddles wearing a fabulous pair of ankle boots without a care in the world. These colors always make me imagine a carefree spirit who’s as down to earth as the hues the colors she wears.

If you don’t like too much of these autumnal shades, try wearing an olive green jacket or sweater with a pair of your favorite dark denim jeans or a denim skirt. Pairing any color with denim is always a green light, and using these shades, you can’t go wrong. To keep your look from being too casual, rolling out of bed and throwing something on status, try tucking your jeans into a pair of knee high boots, whether they be brown or black. It’s always easier and more convenient to wear a pair of denim skinnies so they slip into your favorite knee high boots more comfortably. Grab a cross over body bag that’s also very in with the urban chic look and you’re ready to hit the streets!
