With the month of September and the dreaded “No White After Labor Day” rule fast approaching, now is the best time to highlight summer’s coolest color for women’s dresses.
When you think of a party dresses, what color do you see? Most women default to wearing bold colors, which is always fun to play with. But a color that is often overlooked, but is now being frequented more often on the red carpet, is the angelic color of white.
White is one of those colors that can really be played up any way you want. When we think of red, we think sexy. When we see black, we think elegant and chic. But with white, depending on the texture of the fabric, the cut of the dress, and how it’s accessorized, the white party dress is a mysterious article that seeks to be given its rightful time and attention.
On the red carpet, the trend we’re seeing, is A-list stars donning a feminine white party dress, with some sort of ruffle or frill to it. But what really strikes me as being superb, is the black accented belts. The greatest contrast to white has to be black. Using a thick black high waist belt to cinch at the waist to create the hourglass frame, is the cherry on top.
Women’s dresses often don’t call for restructuring. But these white party dresses don’t lose an ounce of class by adding a black belt to its frame. Satin belts, either tied or twisted, look very elegant on top of the crispy white of the dress. But don’t limit yourself to just the color black. I have seen many a women wear a white dress with a deep red for a more romantic look. You can also try a brown threaded belt for a more casual earthy vibe. The possibilities are limitless, as long as the white dress that sits under the belt is fitted perfectly to form your beautiful body shape.
