Celebrity Holiday Fashion Tips (Part 2)

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

As promised, here’s the second part of our special Holiday edition of celebrity style tips. In part one of our feature, we shared unsolicited style wisdom from Zoe Saldana, Katie Homes and Kirsten Dunst.

Before you start buying all those wedge boots, ankle boots and women’s dresses, read on so you can maximize your shopping budget for the real wardrobe essentials this Holiday season.

1. Emma Stone. Looking sexy does not always mean exposing skin. Sometimes, looking sexy also means looking classy and well put together. Take this look from Emma Stone for example. She’s wearing a very professional looking pencil skirt and blouse combination. It’s a great outfit for work and for after work. If wearing heels becomes too painful, you can always bring an extra pair of wedge shoes (not the wedge boots for this one though).

2. Rachel Bilson. If you don’t want to look like a “girly girl” this Holidays, take a style page from this pint-sized beauty. Grab a pair of slightly oversized boyfriend jeans, pair it with a fitted jacket (it doesn’t have to be metallic like the one she’s wearing) and finish off with a hat. Hats are overlooked fashion accessories you can take advantage of this season so go ahead and get one! For this outfit, you may now bring out your wedge boots. High heels are more than okay too.

3. Reese Witherspoon. While the Holidays are all about fun and letting loose, you can still adapt a sleeker look for your hair this season. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Just look at hot mama Reese Witherspoon who looks sleek and sexy in her top knot. It’s also a great look for women who don’t have time to wash their hair before a party (though we highly recommend allotting hair time before a fun night). Of course, if you are wearing your hair up, you got to keep it consistent by wearing something just as sleek like this body hugging little black dress.

Boots For Tall Women

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

For many tall women, heels can be tacky. Whether it’s a pair of stilettos or wedge boots, the added height provided by this kind of women’s shoes make tall women feel uncomfortable at the prospect of towering over everybody else. At times, wearing heels, stilettos or wedge boots can cause a woman to slouch just so the added height will not seem to obvious.

Thankfully, boots look good on everyone, whether you are tall or taller. So there is no need to slouch when wearing heeled boots or to ignore that lovely pair of wedge boots you’ve wanted to buy. Here are some notes on rocking the boots for tall women.

1. Stilettos and high heels are not your only options if you want to wear heeled shoes. You can also go for kitten-heeled boots, which is flattering for a wide variety of body figures and height. You can choose to go for a mini bootie style that you can tuck under your pants or over your tights. A full leg boot will look fab on your favorite skirts and dresses.

2. And then of course, there are wedge boots. Wedge boots give a little more height without obviously doing it. Unless you plan to wear your wedge boots under a pair of jeans, don’t go for the knee-high wedge boots. The more flexible wedge boots are still those that come over you calf and just below the knee.

3. Flat boots, like ankle boots, are classy and flexible. Whether it’s leather or suede, flat boots look great on tall women. Ankle boots, in particular, do a great job of showing off long, shapely legs. You can also opt to tuck your pants or leggings into the boots to make it look more prominent. Flat boots do a great job of making women look taller without actually doing it.

Crispy Wedge of Blue

Monday, November 21st, 2011

With the return of jewel tones in women’s wedge shoes, we can appreciate the fabulous translucent tones that come in a shiny pair of turquoise espadrille wedge shoes! Summer doesn’t have to be over when you slip your feet into a pair of the season’s most popular style of shoes that don’t have to be worn with any specific type of clothing to be worn right.

Wedge shoes have been all the rage as high heel stilettos have taken the backseat to the chunky heels of women’s wedge shoes. Something must be said about the fun over-exaggerated look of platform wedge shoes and the surprising comfort they bring to the new hipster trend that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Wedge shoes are fun in that they can truly be those shoes that can be taken to a more serious level and then brought back down to something playful. With its colors in a variety of new blue hues, there is more than a handful of ways to wear such a fun shade in a funky shape!

With a color this bold, you don’t want an outfit that’s just as busy to match. If anything, you want to keep the rest of your ensemble rather quiet to let the personality of turquoise espadrille wedge shoes pop! No one likes to fight to be the center of attention, and this also goes for the personality of our shoes. If you’re a woman who takes her shoes seriously, you know what I mean by this! (more…)

Bringing the Funk Back!

Friday, September 30th, 2011

Paying homage to one of the greatest and innovative designers that ever was, Alexander McQueen always pushed the boundaries of fashion and infused a creative art form to each and every one of his collections. His creative edge challenged the normalcy of fashion and the expectations were met at every collection viewing. Today, fashion still emulates the great designer, especially in the world of shoes. Where I can clearly see the spirit and the draw back to the great McQueen is in the form of the very geometric shaped heels of ladies wedge shoes!

Wedge shoes have finally made its comeback onto the runway! We have seen it spill onto YSL and Prada’s collection with all sorts of flairs and jingles to it. Our feet will forever thank us for the favor as we all know the comfort levels that ladies wedge shoes bring cannot be rivaled by any heel out there.

As soon as a shoe style, such as the wedge shoes becomes a major hit in the fashion world, all types of variations are sure to follow. But in these days, it takes more than a slight adjustment to a style to turn something into a hot commodity. People need the added shock value and some pizzazz to make their heads turn! Bearing that in mind, it’s no wonder the genius inside Alexander McQueen now brings us the chunky blocked heels of the wedge shoes! (more…)
