Animal Print Wedge Boots at Work: Strut It, Girl!

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

Earlier on, we discussed how you could pull off wearing purple ankle boots at work. While it may seem too bold for the workplace, nothing is impossible for the very fashion-forward fashionista. Now, another bold thing to do at work, as if wearing purple ankle boots isn’t enough, is to wear animal print wedge boots! Yup, you read it right. While leopard wedge boots are more appropriate for clubs and other similar establishments, you can still pull them off when you go to work.

Spice up your outfit with wedge boots printed in leopard, snake, and other equally bold patterns by making sure that the rest of your outfit is plain and in neutral shades. It’s risk-free and it’s low-key. Not everyone can immediately notice that you are actually wearing animal print wedge boots since they’d look at your outfit first, assumingly. The dress should be office-friendly so they can let you get away with wearing an unusual pair of boots to work.

When it comes to accessories, they should be low-key as well. Don’t call unwanted attention with your wedge boots AND accessories. As with your entire outfit, keep it simple but elegantly understated. Make sure that the attention is directed towards your wedge boots and nothing else.

Here are some popular choices that you could wear at work:

For only $23.90, the Zantee1 Lace Up with Tassel Wedge Boots also doubles as a pair of ankle boots. The shoelaces end with a tassel and it features a faux suede upper with front lace detail too. It comes with a 5” wedge and 1” platform.

Another option would be the Anette06 Leopard Buckle Wedge Boots in Black. It comes in three different colors – brown, red, and black. It is less bolder than other pairs of animal print wedge boots as the leopard prints are only limited in the back, making it a two-tone wedge booties. The style is color block, a popular form of fashion seen in cloths and shoes. Available for only $30.80.

Wedge boots, ankle boots, high heels, flats, and platform pumps are must-haves for any woman but there are certain guidelines when it comes to actually wearing them. Kitten heels may be awkward to look at but did you know that they actually make the legs look slimmer? There are certain pairs of women’s shoes that make your legs look slimmer but it entails really high heels that become uncomfortable to wear after some time. With kitten heels, your legs will give the impression of being thinner without the worries of experiencing soreness on your feet.

Now, if you really want to make an impression, why not shop for red wedge boots? If you want to go the extra mile, then invest in a pair of red knee-high wedge boots? They’re sexy and they can instantly transform your look from drab to fab. Of course, any pair of women’s shoes in red is automatically seductive so feel free to choose the type of shoe you really want.

In case you haven’t tried it out yet, skinny jeans are a great pair to stiletto heel boots. Ankle boots can be worn with skinny jeans to and they also make a great pair. Just make sure that the boots are at least above the ankle, but don’t go to the extreme length of wearing it with thigh-high boots. Honestly, they just look tacky and trashy.

Last week, we talked about how cute and girly flats are. If you are the type who doesn’t like dresses but still wants to wear flats, then pair it with Capri jeans or any long jeans that you can instantly fold for that casual look. Tapered jeans and skinny jeans would also go well with flats.

Now, are you inspired enough to do some shopping?

Caring for Leather Knee-High Wedge Boots

Monday, April 9th, 2012

Knee-high wedge boots are very stylish and certainly not everyone can pull them off. Still, many women prefer to wear knee-high wedge boots because it’s sexy and fashion-forward. Even celebrities like Lenny Kravitz (yes, he was seen wearing a pair two years ago), Geri Halliwell, and of course, Kate Moss were spotted wearing knee-high wedge boots.

Leather knee-high wedge boots, on the other hand, are an entirely different thing. The authentic leather pairs of knee-high wedge boots can easily cost an arm and leg which is why it is very important to care for them to extend their shelf lives.

To do that, you must make sure that the pair of leather knee-high wedge boots you are buying is in perfect condition. Marks, creases, cracks, scuffs, and other damages should not be present in the wedge boots. You certainly don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on leather wedge boots that will last for just a month, do you?

The next thing to do is condition the boots as soon as you get home. Buy a can of WD-40, leather conditioner, or mink oil to loosen up the leather and keep it moist. Once you store your pair of leather knee-high wedge boots, they should be placed in an upright position – they shouldn’t be folded or stored in shoe racks because it can cause creases and cracks in the long run. A clear space with enough height is the best area to store your leather knee-high wedge boots.

You can keep the pair of wedge boots in an upright position by placing a cylinder object inside the shoes. Stack many objects if you can to help maintain this position. If you don’t plan on wearing it in the near future, regularly wipe it with a moistened cloth to remove the dirt that may have accumulated during its storage.

Other products that could help preserve your leather knee-high wedge boots for many years include a leather shoe cleaner, shoe shiners, beeswax, and leather spray.

Wedge boots are popular among women because they are not just comfortable too wear but very stylish too. Additionally, looking very fashionable for long periods of time becomes possible because you can wear wedge boots for extended periods.

There are many types of wedge heels that we see in wedge boots. Here are some of them:

Wooden and Cork Wedges

Wooden or cork wedges are also seen in wedge boots, next to espadrille as the most popular form of heels in wedges. Sometimes, wooden wedges are made from entire pieces of wood though there are those that have hollowed insides for reduced weight.

Hidden Wedges

Hidden wedges are, of course, hidden. Wedge boots with hidden wedges look flat, since the heels are not seen and the height of the heels are not that high at all, only ¾ inch or less. Knee-high wedge boots and mid-calf wedge boots often have hidden wedges too.

Platform Wedges

Wedge boots with platform wedges are flat or may only have a slight incline on the heel. It still looks like a flat but it is raised from the ground just like a wedge. While platform wedges are commonly seen in espadrilles, wedge boots with this type of wedge is also available.
