Winter Wool Sweaters

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

No matter where you are, winter’s chills are beginning to peek into your city and bring down the warm temperatures of our beloved summer days. But whether you’re a dubbed winter or summer gal, one thing is for sure about winter: you can never have enough sweaters.

Sweaters are the ultimate comfort clothes that with a little bit of flare, can give you the kind of spunk you need to take your winter look to the max. One of my favorite looks with our winter sweaters, is the patterned winter wool sweater that’s fit for a trip up to a snowy cabin.

Even in the winter, trendy women’s clothing can give us plenty of options so don’t shy away from getting creative with your winter wear. The wool sweater that looks fabulous in a variety of styles is all over the place this season. Find them anywhere in prints with moose, or just oddball shapes, in red, khaki, brown, black or beige. All these styles and colors will work great with the styling tips I’m about to give you.

The first thing to look out for, is the shape of the sweater when you purchase it. The sweater needs to be slightly oversized so you can wear it with a pair of leggings and have it cover your bottom. Although, if it’s a little too big, you’ll look like you’re swimming in a sea of wool- which might not work out for you. Trendy women’s clothing can be up for interpretation, but a nice fit, even when it’s loose, always looks better than something that can be mistaken for sloppy.

So you take your slightly oversized and loose winter sweater and pair it with your favorite black leggings. These days, women’s leggings are beginning to take a life of its own with patches of leather, cutouts, patterns and prints. It’s good to keep the leggings simple so your sweater will be what catches the eye. Now the greatest part, is your freedom to choose whatever winter fashion boots you own in a dark shade of brown or black that will most definitely complete your ensemble.

A fabulous pair of winter fashion boots with fur or studs can be your best friend to this outfit. Any type of extra pizzazz can bring your look to glamour status immediately.

But if you’re more function over fashion, and you plan on running around all day in this outfit, never fear. We always have our flat ankle boots we can rely on. Honestly, you can rarely go wrong with these boots as they really embody what winter fashion is in all its urban fashion. Flat ankle boots with your leggings tucked in, or with a pair of tights and a denim skirt, with your winter wool sweater, will be the highlight of your winter wardrobe.

Brown Boots or Bust!

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Honestly, with every type of women’s boot being thrust your way, it’s hard to figure out which one is a must-have right? Well, with colors of spring finding its way into winter and fall fashion right now, the most versatile pair of women’s dress boots you could have is a pair of brown ankle boots!

Even if you’re wearing an all black ensemble, my favorite look is when a woman can switch it up and bring out an unexpected style to an every day casual outfit that makes other women stop and think, hey… I can do that too! Such came my epiphany as I came across the photos of young women on the streets, in their casual clothes with their brown ankle boots.

The all-American fall outfit that you can never get enough of, literally and figuratively, is the plaid shirt and denim skinnies. You have to choose the right patterned plaid so it’s not too much, and tuck into your denim skinny jeans. Polish it off by slipping your feet into your brown women’s boots.

The big color for fall has been heralded as the various shades of gray. As odd as it may sound, a gray dress or a gray combination of clothes can look very earthy when you pull on a pair of brown women’s dress boots to go with. It’s almost unexpected as most would pair together black boots with gray. But the brown boots will be the one to go with this wonderful shade of gray.

Take any pair of your jeans and put it together with a fleece, flannel, sweater, coat or jacket, what’s so great about your brown boots is its ability to go with just about any color without necessarily needing to match it. The brown of the boots can be in almost any shade too. Whether it’s light or dark, raggedy looking or polished, it’s sure to fit!

Terrific in Taupe

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

For us women, we always love the idea of having options. Whether it’s options in food, clothing or shoes, we love it. That’s why the color taupe was created. For winter fashion boots this season, you can broaden your scope of shoes with this demure color that is sure to pair up with any color blending of clothes you can put together.

If you’re not in the mood to wear dark colored mid calf boots such as black or the dark brown, taupe is my next best choice in wearing winter fashion boots. The color is a great contrast against dark shades, but blends well with lighter hues as well. Its versatility makes it easy to match with outfits and looks great in any style whether it be knee high boots or ankle booties.

The cleanest look to go with these taupe mid calf boots, is in my mind, a deep dark blue denim pair of jeans, a clean white sleeved thermal or long sleeved sweater and these taupe mid calf boots on top of your jeans. Or, we can go more urban and casual with a pair of your favorite figure hugging jeans and a contrasting plaid flannel all buttoned up and tucked in as well. The colors you choose to go with these boots can vary as we agree that this color is ready for anything you want to roll with.

Simple Fashion Boots with Nicholas K

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

During Fashion Week in the vibrant city of New York, a smaller brand and designers by the name of Nicholas K brought their designs to the runway in simple minimalistic shades and patterns. Personally, I like to wear clothing that’s practical and can be worn a million different ways, making the bang definitely worth your buck. So I was delighted when I saw that with their clothing, they brought winter fashion boots to the runway along with it, and used the simple looks that can really worn with every outfit they paired them with.

The length of boots with the flat mid calf boots that are worn by the models in Nicholas K’s fashion show are the most convenient length for women’s dress boots. Not to give slack to our beloved ankle booties, but the look of the flat mid calf boot to me, is where you’re in the mood to wear a casual outfit, and you’re rushing out the door. These women’s dress boots give you the right dose of fashion, but aren’t over the top formal.

Women’s winter fashion boots don’t have to be anything sparkly or pulling out details all over the boot. You can stick to what’s simple, and what we all know is legit and still run with it.

These flat mid calf boots in dark brown and black seriously go with everything. I love the way they look when worn with a long cotton dress that flares out at the bottom, with a heavy parka or cargo jacket on top. Finish off your look with a fly pair of aviator sunglasses and a messy hairdo, as we see in Nicholas K’s models, you’re set to go!

The flat mid calf boots give your look a bit of grunge in a hipster way that is priceless. It’s this whole I’m-not-really-trying vibe that comes off when these boots are worn with a cotton comfortable outfit.

Prints such as camouflage and animal print are also big for the winter and fall. Even wearing those prints in a soft cotton material, with jeans or black skinnies would go fabulously with the boots.

Think even further to vests in leather or fur to go on top of your loose and draping cotton tops and dresses, and you have an outfit that is runway worthy. Make these streets your own personal runway when you grab your pair of boots on Make Me Chic!

How to Wear the Top Winter Women’s Boots Trends of 2009

Monday, January 25th, 2010

In the following months, temperatures will continue to drop. One thing that a woman can do to make it through the cold season is to look smoking hot. Even if one is all bundled up and covered in thick fleece-lined winter coats, it is never a reason to look unfashionable. The perfect way to spice up the outfit is putting on women’s boots that are said to be winter’s top fashion picks.
