We see it all around us. Color blocking has come, it has made its dramatic entrance, and it is here to stay! I can’t say that I don’t like it because to be honest, I think women’s apparel could use a punch of bold colors every so often. And it’s just so undeniably fun to play dress up in all the rainbow shades we now have to choose from in everything from clothing to accessories, and now, even to your favorite pair of high heels!
Many fashion designing houses whether in New York, Paris, London or Milan, have all taken firm hold of this still-in-development trend that is pouring out bucketfuls of playful fashion into the streets creating a palate of colors no matter which way you look. Women’s apparel has spun this trend into different shapes, stripes and styles to bend the matter of these shades into limitless options for us women to choose from. But of all the colors, one has rested in my mind as being a citrusy dream to play with: orange!
A new trend that has surfaced recently in runway fashion and has seeped into the streets even faster than most styles, the fluorescent glow of neon colors is irresistible and like moths to a neon light, we are
drawn to these colors that are now appearing not only in women’s apparel, but in shoes and accessories as well.
With women’s clothing, designers such as Proenza Schouler and Prada have taken these neon colors and taken it to another level by splashing these wild shades on dresses and shoes, bags and jewelry. But my favorite color that has grown on me and reminds me of the early 90’s is neon green! Who else remembers our awesome biker shorts and scrunchies in the bright booming shade that demanded the eyes of anyone within a three foot radius?
That must be how our favorite editor Anna dello Russo must have felt as she essentially wore women’s clothing in all neon green from the runway designs of Prada. Even her high heels showed us slivers of neon green and of all colors to go with it: khaki! Sometimes the most unlikely pairs of colors can become your greatest palette for you to experiment with. Designers do that for us to sit there and view their products to pick and choose what we love most. But I cannot deny my new appreciation for women’s apparel that dares to be different and put the uniform color of khaki with something as outrageous as neon green!
Another chic way to wear such a youthful color is as a knee length dress or skirt- think silk or satin skirts that have a fluid movement to it. Keep the rest of your colors calm in shades that will let the neon green really take front stage. Black tights and black tops will always work with any fluorescent color. But top it all off with a structured fitted camel coat and a pair of fabulously colorful high heels and you will have your own version of the Prada and Proenza crazy collections from the runways.

An unlikely color to hit the streets lately has been the feminine shade of pink. Pink is one of those colors that women tend to either love or never wear. Its presence tells the eye
that it is woman, and it is here. So if you’re looking for your next short party dress to take you to through your holiday events, think pink!
Although the standard is to try to find your best red, green or gold attire, a refreshing change to the swing of parties and gatherings, may be to try something unexpected. Women’s dresses on the runways showed us that pink is indeed the color of choice amongst some of fashion’s top designers. All the big names in fashion such as Lanvin, Burberry, Victoria Beckham, Mulberry, Jason Wu and Peter Som all pulled out their shades of pink and turned them into fantasy-like short party dresses fit for every woman’s dream night out.
As we take note of the change in tides with blush-worthy pink becoming a hit in fashion, it’s time to go shopping and find your own rendition that suits your own personality perfectly. Even though pink may not be the color you choose to put forward, fashion is about taking risks and expanding your horizon and your choices. Make Me Chic has plenty of women’s dresses in all colors and designs that will be a hit for all your holiday needs.
Pink women’s dresses give us a wide range of shoes to begin pairing them with. What’s so great is given this abundance of choices, you can really change your look and vibe of the dress in accordance with the kind of shoes you choose to wear. It is a given to pull out a fabulous pair of high heel shoes to accompany a dress that is fit for a princess. But consider the direction of your look and think of your options as well.
