Summer’s most loved trend? That’s easy, Nautical! As the season changes and temperatures rise, we see more and more women begin to get in touch with their nautical nice side. We can’t blame them, it’s hard NOT to love Nautical wear. It’s easy to wear, it works for all women, and it can be worn day or night!
One Stripe, Two Stripe…:
The easiest base to ANY Nautical look is a bold stripe print apparel piece tied with a matching basic item. For instance, striped blazers with solid shirts under, Striped skirts, striped pants, Striped anything!! Whatever your favorite piece is throw it on. Being a blazer girl myself, I can never turn down a nice striped blazer! We don’t want to overwhelm ourselves, or anyone else, with TOO many striped items, so it’s best to keep it to one or two pieces.
Not ready to show your stripes? Another option is contrasted piping. A Navy blazer with white piping around the outer side and pockets screams nautical. While this is not quite stripes, it gives off a similar feeling.
Red Stripe, Blue Stripe…:
I say Nautical and you say? Red, White, and Blue…Right? Absolutely! Red, White, and Blue are the classic colors to the nautical trend. They don’t need to all be combined into a look to make it happen, but this is the basic color palette. I know what you’re thinking, “What if I want to wear something other than Red, White, and/or Blue, can I STILL be nautical?” YES! In fact, I personally encourage it! This season we’re seeing a lot of brights and neons. Don’t be afraid to make your nautical side pop by trading in some of those classic stripes for neon brights.

Complete your look with nautical inspired accessories and even nail art. knotted bracelets and necklaces, anchor charms, and scarf options will really set this look off.

This is the trend that WON’T Quit!! We’ve seen Nautical trending for the past few Summer’s, but with styles like this it’s hard to let it go. This summer, get in touch with your Nautical Nice side, one more time. This look is easily achieved using your red, white, and blue color palette, but feel free to use other basic colors to perosnalize your look. Pairing striped with polka dots as seen on the bandeau below is also a great way to give this a flirty feminine look. For the past summer we LOVED the high waist short and high waist pant, and we’re proud to say we still do. This summer don’t be afraid to show a little skin with your crop tops and harem pants.

With the Holiday shopping frenzy still on (Think about all those post-Holiday promos!), now is the best time to stock up on would-be, hot footwear trends for 2012. Of course, you can still keep your ankle boots, wedge boots and rhinestone stilettos but if you want to welcome the year in fashion, then here are five shoe trends to watch out for in 2012.
1. Metallic Toes. Who says glitz is just for the Holidays? Next year, glitz will rule as metallic toes make a dash for the fashion spotlight. Whether it’s metallic ankle boots or metallic pumps, this style is definitely in. And it’s not just fashionable, it’s functional too. Metallic toes are supposed to increase your footwear’s longevity so that’s fashion and function for you.
2. Braided Sandals. Whenever you want to let your feet breathe, how about a pair of braided sandals? The more unusual the braiding style and the crazier the color, the better! It’s a great and simple way to add an extra oomph to any outfit.
3. Shiny Shoes. Shiny shoes aren’t just for Halloween. It’s always a great choice for party wear. And you can wear it as pumps, as flats or as ankle boots. For maximum showstopper effect, choose gold or silver.
4. Transparent Shoes. When you think transparent shoes, you don’t usually think fashionable. But not in 2012. This trend is slowly but surely gaining mass appeal and the lure of sheer vinyl is attracting more fashion-forward ladies. If you want to be among them, this is the kind of women’s shoes that you want.
5. Pointed Toes. How do you feel about ankle boots with pointed toes? Positive, hopefully, because in 2012, pointed toes are taking over the rounded toes domination. Get ready for a sharper fashion year ahead.
