We know you get a lot of “boots advice”—from when to wear it to how to wear it and even how to keep it clean. Well, here’s something new: how should you wear boots when you hit the big 4-0? Don’t get us wrong. Boots, and fashion in general, is for EVERYONE – and that means regardless of gender, social class and yes, age. But, there is an appropriate way to rock those booties as you mature. If you want to stay on top of the fashion ladder, you have to know how to adjust your fashion sense as you age.
Thankfully, boots – ankle boots, wedge, knee-high, whichever style you prefer – are footwear classics that transcend styles and seasons. Now, on to the tips. For this purpose, we looked at some of our favorite celebrities and took style tips on how to rock the booties at 40 and above.
1. If you have been regularly working out and eating right, then you’ll definitely reap the rewards of your healthy lifestyle. Show off that fab pair of long legs a la J. Lo with sexy ankle boots.
2. We all know black looks great on mostly everybody but it does not mean you have to wear it all the time. Colors are not just for pre-teens. Add a dash of color and it’ll work wonders. Just look at Denise Richards and her taupe boots. They’re doing a great job at matching her classic, printed cold weather outfit and adding glow to her overall look.
3. Who says you can’t wear skinny when you’re 40? If you still got it, then go for it! Take it from Jane Fonda. Now if you’re wearing skinny jeans, then you have to wear ankle boots to finish it up. It’s hip and classy all at the same time.
4. They may be called slouchy boots but make no mistake about it coz they make you look fun and fab. A pair of this kind of boots should be in every woman’s closet. Just ask the dashing Gwyneth Paltrow.
5. If you have to take fashion advice from anyone over 40, then it has to be the Anna Wintour. This fashion bigwig shows us how it’s done. Ditch the usual pumps and sandals for your cocktail dress and get into a tall pair of black boots. As you can see it’s great with print and just about anything else.
