Bringing the Funk Back!

Friday, September 30th, 2011

Paying homage to one of the greatest and innovative designers that ever was, Alexander McQueen always pushed the boundaries of fashion and infused a creative art form to each and every one of his collections. His creative edge challenged the normalcy of fashion and the expectations were met at every collection viewing. Today, fashion still emulates the great designer, especially in the world of shoes. Where I can clearly see the spirit and the draw back to the great McQueen is in the form of the very geometric shaped heels of ladies wedge shoes!

Wedge shoes have finally made its comeback onto the runway! We have seen it spill onto YSL and Prada’s collection with all sorts of flairs and jingles to it. Our feet will forever thank us for the favor as we all know the comfort levels that ladies wedge shoes bring cannot be rivaled by any heel out there.

As soon as a shoe style, such as the wedge shoes becomes a major hit in the fashion world, all types of variations are sure to follow. But in these days, it takes more than a slight adjustment to a style to turn something into a hot commodity. People need the added shock value and some pizzazz to make their heads turn! Bearing that in mind, it’s no wonder the genius inside Alexander McQueen now brings us the chunky blocked heels of the wedge shoes! (more…)

A Roar with the Wedge!

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Guess what? The higher beings which hold the power to the fashion trends of this world have come together to agree that they would indeed bring the most popular and fashionable print to our beloved wedge shoes! Yes! Animal print has come roaring onto our platform wedges to give our favorite clunky shoes an extra pizzazz!

As you can probably tell, I am a huge fan of ladies wedge shoes and it’s ridiculous style it brings to every outfit you throw it into. There is just something so wild about these platform wedges that have me undoubtedly reaching for a pair in my size. I think it’s just the funkiness of it that guarantees you a fabulous and fun time in them no matter where you go.

In Europe, black has and always will be the color of choice amongst fashionable men and women. With animal print, this loud pattern is sure to be your head-turner. So keeping the rest of your ensemble quiet and letting the inner beast roar through your apparel, is all you need. So keeping a black on black outfit would go purr-fectly with these animal print wedge shoes.

For the winter, black tights or skinnies, or a black skirt accompanied with a tailored blazer or biker leather jacket. Keeping it cool and chic, then strapping on your ladies wedge shoes to go with it, oh… it’s just magical! The key to wearing wedge shoes though, is that you have keep the shape of your ankle exposed to make sure your shoes are not drowning under a pair of flared trousers or bell-bottom jeans.

Turning Up the Fashion in Turtlenecks

Monday, November 15th, 2010

While rifling through your closet for all your new gear for the upcoming seasons, how does your turtleneck section fare? Well, nothing says “Hello Fall!” than a wonderful rich turtleneck under a beautiful coat. So start looking into grabbing your favorite shade to complement your other essential Fall pieces.

Women’s clothing can be tricky come Fall. I know I tend to naturally grab the same sweater, jeans and boots when I see the clouds rolling in. But it’s because I’m so used to knowing what I can rely on, that I gravitate towards the same things every time. As I look towards the upcoming trends, I see some of the classic pieces that have always been a staple in the cold weather are still here to stay.

There are so many ways to wear a turtleneck, and with so many pieces of women’s clothing to pair them up with. My favorite has to be a light weight turtleneck, tucked into a wool skirt. This wool skirt can either be a solid color, or be a little more chic with a nice plaid pattern or houndstooth pattern to it. Pull out your best pair of stockings or leggings, and finish off with a fabulous pair of black ankle boots or platform wedge shoes.

Designers for the Spring 2011 Ready to Wear lines gave us a sneak peek at what winter fashion holds by debuting their own renditions of the turtleneck. Designer Rodarte showcased a beautiful brown and beige checkered pattern for their soft turtleneck, tucked into a pair of patterned high-waisted trousers and brown ankle boots.

Flowers in the Fall!

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Even though we may not see the flowers in the Fall, that doesn’t mean we can’t bring them out to full bloom through women’s accessories! Take any dreary day, and a matching outfit with darker colors, and brighten up your entire look with the perfect women’s fashion accessories. These days, floral print is big on clothes and women’s accessories, so finding the perfect scarf for you will be easier than previous seasons.

With any purchase we make for our beloved apparel collection, the best ones are the items that we can wear throughout the year, with any season, and what seems like with any outfit. Women’s fashion accessories, and ones with prints at that, are particularly tricky and must be one of those timeless easily chic pieces.

There are so many different ways to wear this floral scarf. I mean that in the context of your outfit, as well as how to literally fold or tie the scarf around.

My favorite way to wear my floral scarf is in a particular way. I love to wear any type of shorts- usually leather as it is very trendy these days and uber comfortable too. Pull on a pair of sheer tights, in varying colors- as it would give your look an extra punch. Then wear a sweater or a tee, or even a button up shirt with a solid print on it. Next, tie the floral scarf around your head like a headband and leave the knot up at the top to limply.
