These days, the stars hitting their movie premiers are shutting it down! First with Drew nailing it wherever she’s at, and now Jessica Alba!
Jessica Alba often receives mixed reviews from fashion critiques and has had her days of glory and her days of questionable glances while walking down the red carpet. But at this week’s premiere of her new movie Machete, Jessica Alba brings all critics to a silence while strutting her stuff in a gold and black sequined Balmain dress at L.A.’s movie premiere event.
I imagine that stars often scramble to have their stylists choose an array of women’s dresses to make them stand out. After Balmain’s fantastic Fall 2010 show, the gold dresses they debuted have been peeking out all over magazines and the red carpet.
Fashion designers have taken notice of the recent trend in the gold and sequins, and followed suit with an endless supply of fashionable women’s dresses that still shine just as bright as the beautiful Balmain line itself.
The fun zigzag pattern on the dress that Alba wears gives her the edge to go to a more funky and fun style of high heel to wear to match. The obvious and most complementary color to wear with such a bright and cool dress would be black high heels. But rather than wearing closed toe black high heels, which still would have been fabulous with that dress, Jessica Alba chose to wear a strappy number with a peep toe that gives your feet enough air to breathe and keeps you at least a couple degrees cooler in this sweltering Los Angeles heat.
Also, an interesting take on this whole look, whether Alba or her stylist was the one responsible for it, the lines of the high heels and the lines on the Balmain dress do not cross in the same way, but yet, they do somehow form a knowing partnership to tie in the look together. Again, not everything needs to be so matchy-matchy, so don’t abstain from grabbing your strappy shoes when wearing a busy number.
