Shopping Safari Kors’ Style!

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

As clear as day, we can see that Michael Kors women’s fashion clothing was definitely channeling a safari trip to Africa in his collection that debuted for his Spring 2012 ready to wear line. In a surprising turn of events, Michael Kors strayed from his usual straight lines and solid classy cuts to a more urban dubbed “Afriluxe” collection that gave us a breath of air and made his mark on the runways of New York by straying from the bold colors of the trends saturating our fashion world and settling into his own marked collection for a season to remember!

Keeping in mind all the simple designs and lines of women’s fashion clothing today, Michael Kors kept things in order while adding his own flair in one of my favorite numbers in the creation of his animal print patch-work shift. Taking the essentials of all the animal print that’s been roaring into the streets, and lacing them together in true Kors’ style, Michael did a beautiful job making bold prints somehow work together in zig zagged shapes and ultimately create smooth clean lines. But to add his signature look, Michael Kors did a gorgeous pairing with a pair of utilitarian women’s gladiator sandals.

I never get tired of seeing a fabulous pair of women’s sandals and when they are women’s gladiator sandals, it makes me squeal! Of all the women’s sandals out there, gladiator sandals are going to stick around for ages. Whether it’s the sandals that are laced or buckled all the way up your calves, or if they’re at the ankle, Michael Kors has the collection of dresses and sheaths to accompany them in a casual contemporary safari style that’s set for the streets or for the runways.

The beauty of Michael Kors’ collections is its ability to really transcend the runway and make its way into our wardrobes. Whether it’s animal print patchwork on a dress or a pair of gladiator sandals, we cannot deny his presence in our choices from time to time. Especially in recent days, we see the presence of orange being a big hit in the fashion world. In a number that echoes the presence of last season’s big collection, Michael Kors designed a gorgeous three-piece set that’s set all in a tangerine orange and a neutral brown belt that’s elegantly draped at the waistline.

With such a simple mono-chrome outfit such as this, the best way to create a contrast without taking away from the simplicity of the tones, is to pair it with a pair of flat gladiator sandals that give the soft look a bit of edge. Given the simple but sweet combinations that America’s most beloved designer has handed us for the spring, we can’t say that we don’t have any inspiration for the upcoming season. How can we deny some Kors in our lives?

Vacationing with Michael Kors!

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

How many of us can collectively say that Michael Kors can do no wrong? Not only are his designs continuously nailing it at every turn of the season, but now we get to see his personality floweth on TV too via Project Runway. It is no wonder his expertise was demanded on the fashion show because this man has paid homage to the name of fashion, and continuously raises the bar with each collection he exposes for women’s fashion apparel.

The Resort Collection this year was no different as his splashes of color and prints are simple and smooth, with a very practical wearable feel and look that would guarantee the purchase for a real vacation this summer. Whether it’s worn on the red carpet or on the sandy beaches of some exotic haven, the Resort Collection has given women’s dresses a new twist and turn and I love it!

One piece I cannot get enough of, is the neon green and black striped oversized shirt that doubles as a dress. With the sleeves drooping long enough to reach your wrists, this simple piece of women’s fashion apparel can now function one of two ways! If you can imagine with me, we can also wear this fine piece of stripes with a pair of black skinnies or a pair of black leggings- either cotton or leather, and with a pair of black combat boots and we’ve got a seasonally diverse outfit!

Or, we can Michael Kors’ way and wear it as a shirt dress after taking a dip in the pool or the Pacific Ocean and throw on a pair of gladiator sandals that strap all the way up your ankle for a balance between casual chic and gladiator-rough and toughness. There’s something tropical about this shirt dress, even with the industrial looking gladiator sandals. It’s very I-just-went-scuba-diving!

In every collection there is that one look that takes my breath away. And although this one is so simple, so very very simple by nature and design, its essence of simplistic chic captured my heart! A long-sleeved women’s dress in a neon hot pink with a sexy slit straight up the thigh is the highlight of Michael Kors’ Resort Collection hands down. Although it shines through the minimalism trend with little to no details to it whatsoever, the simple lines and the bright fun color gives youth to any woman who puts this sexy dress on!

Keeping Cool in Kimonos!

Friday, June 10th, 2011

In light of the changing of seasons and the fabulous fashion at Coachella recently, it’s only right that we highlight one of the most endurable staples of bohemian trendy women’s clothing: the silk kimono. Although I’ve seen more of this trend on the celebrities that paparazzis snap photos of than in the streets, I believe a revolution is in order to really show the world how great these cultural pieces of trendy women’s clothing really are.

Kimonos come at different lengths, cuts and styles. These days, the cuts are more radical and we have kimonos that are floor length or cut short in the front and leave a tail in the back. Materials can either be rich dark colors or be a sheer light fade of a pattern or design depending on the designer. Whatever the case, and whichever style you love, there are three styles in which to wear the kimono and some of our favorite stars are showing us how.

Actresses Jennifer Love Hewitt and Eva Mendez have been seen wearing their style of the kimono styling it up the best they know how!  Eva Mendez showed off her gorgeous legs by wearing a pair of denim cutoff shorts and a pair of black women’s sandals. Underneath her royal blue kimono, she wore a light heather gray t-shirt and a pendant necklace. The flat women’s sandals keep the outfit looking effortless and really comfortable actually!

Jennifer Love Hewitt keeps it classy with a teal dress underneath and those caged ankle booties we talked about before! Take any bold colored sheath or skirt and pair it with complementary colors in your kimono print and you can ditch your cardigan or jacket and look bohemia-ready in no time. Another way to snazzy up this outfit would be to wear a pair of women’s gladiator sandals with a mini skirt as well.

Last but not least, one of America’s sweethearts, mother and designer Nicole Richie wears her selected kimono with a pair of light faded denim skinnies and a pair of high heels. The high heels definitely takes this outfit from Coachella to Hollywood. So if you want to keep things low key, let’s substitute the high heels for a pair of women’s gladiator sandals! The easy movement of the silk kimono asks that we carry a lightheartedness ourselves by wearing it. So try to keep your groove smooth and your thoughts light and simple while styling up a fabulous silk kimono.

Multi-Buckled Gladiator Sandals in Multi Chic Ways!

Monday, September 13th, 2010

In the world of celebrities, we are accustomed to seeing the fabulous heels and the highest stilettos the world has to offer. But when it comes time to hit the scene in casual wear, the shoe to go to, is still the comfortable fashionable gladiator sandal shoes. The typical gladiator sandal shoes wrap around the ankles with various straps. But a unique look that can be worn in a variety of ways, by celebrities and every day women alike, are the multi-buckled gladiator sandal shoes that slide all the way up your ankle.

With a shoe that is quite bold on its own, a chic way celebrities have worn these shoes is with fashionable women’s apparel. Whether they’re leather or suede, denim or rompers, what’s important is the balance between the skin of your legs and the unique women’s sandals.

Normally, when we grab our gladiator sandals, we can wear anything from dresses and skirts, to jeans and shorts. The low details of the gladiator sandals allow its versatility and simplicity. However, these multi-buckle gladiator sandal shoes are a rare breed of women’s sandals that roar a more vivacious sound to it. It’s hard to wear a demure outfit with a pair of women’s sandals so bold that the women’s apparel you fit with it, has no choice but to speak the same.

My choice for an outfit to pair with these funky and fresh sandals, would be a rocker type look. With leather shorts, a vintage t-shirt, and a fitted black leather jacket with loose hair would look great with these sandals. Whether in black or brown, the hard look of the leather gives you the solidity to look like really you’re part of the band.
