Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

You’ve seen your favorite Hollywood celebrity wearing a chic pair of ankle boots and it makes you want to wear one too! By all means, go grab a pair and rock it! However, be forewarned that while ankle boots are for everyone, there are guidelines on how to wear it. For petite woman, wearing ankle boots can be quite a fashion challenge at times because it has the tendency to make them look shorter. However, this does not mean that you cannot rock a pair of ankle boots. It only means that you have to be careful in choosing which booties you wear so that it will complement your body type.

Not all shoes are made equal and the same principle applies to ankle boots. When purchasing ankle boots, take into consideration the following flattering features.

1. It should at least have a pointed toe or a peep toe.
2. It should have a slender heel.
3. The heel height should be at least three inches.

Given the aforementioned guidelines, flat ankle boots are definitely a big no-no for petite women. Thankfully, there is a wide array of high-heeled ankle boots
for petite women to choose from.

Now that you have got the booties covered, make sure that what you wear with your ankle boots will help create the appearance of a longer leg line. You can do this by wearing ankle boots with a pair of pants or jeans that have a slight boot cut or by wearing it with skinny jeans tucked inside. You can also do this by choosing the right colors. Choose dark-colored ankle boots to match with tights, also in a matching dark color. If you prefer to wear something shorter, pair your ankle boots with bubble skirts or cuffed shorts and fitted tops. And again, remember to pick ankle boots that give you added height.

Tips For Protecting Your Feet When Wearing High Heeled Ankle Boots

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Who can resist the lure of wearing high heeled ankle boots? Aside from adding a little height, a good pair of high heels doeswonders to a woman’s posture and self-confidence. However, wearing high heeled ankle boots everyday can also take its toll on a woman’s body. Regardless of the “power” of high heels, a woman’s feet are not designed to endure the pressure caused by this type of footwear for extended periods of time. So does this mean that women have to choose between physical wellbeing and fashion power? Of course not! Read through the following tips to make sure your feet are protected when wearing your favorite pair of high heeled ankle boots.

1. Get ready with an extra pair. Give your feet time to breathe. During lunch break or on your way home from work, wear something flat or open. You can either wear a pair of slippers if it is cold or opt for a pair of flat ankle boots to relieve your feet from the pressure of wearing high heels.

2. Alternate between closed high heel ankle boots and high heeled ankle boots with cut out sections or peep toe. Aside from a

llowing your feet to “breathe”, this also helps prevent additional pressure on calluses or corns.

3. Invest in back heel cushions. This footwear accessory helps absorb pressure and shock. This is especially worthwhile if you are on your feet more often than usual.

4. Do not always wear high heeled ankle boots with thin heels. Thinner heels may be classier to look at, but thinner heels also require mo

re stability and balance. If you are a novice high heels wearer, you might be more prone to high heel-related accidents. Save the thin heels for special occasions. Besides, high heeled ankle boots—whether with thin heels or not—are fashionable enough on their own.

5. Make sure to buy a pair that fits just right. You’d want something with a snug fit. The best way to test this is to walk in them.

Remember, no matter how beautiful you look in a pair of high heeled ankle boots, if you are obviously uncomfortable with them, then it ceases to be fashionable. Fashion is always safety and comfort first. Stay safe and fashion forward!

Tips for Wearing Flat Ankle Boots

Ankle boots are in a class of their own. There are platform ankle boots, gladiator sandal ankle boots, wedge ankle boots, double platform ankle boots, strappy ankle boots, pointy toe ankle boots, high-heeled ankle boots, and flat ankle boots. Among these, one of the trickiest to wear is perhaps the flat ankle boots. Ankle boots are normally more appreciated when worn with height so flat ankle boots are sometimes misconstrued as unfashionable. Well, here’s a news flash for flat ankle boots naysayers: Flat ankle boots are hot especially if you know how to wear them. If you think your flat booties are only for “dress down” occasions, think again. Here are certified fashionable ways to rock your flat ankle boots.

1. Wear it with pants. This is the easiest and most obvious way to wear ankle boots. When wearing it with wide-legged pants, just make sure it is not tucked in. If worn with tight pants, amp up the hotness factor by tucking in the bottom of the pants inside the boots. Ankle boots create the illusion of longer legs and this will be better achieved with a solid colored pair of pants or jeans.

2. Wear it with skirts. Short skirts, that is. As a general rule, ankle boots are not worn with long skirts. With a short skirt, however, your flat ankle boots will give the perfect contrast. If you do not feel like showing off too much skin, you can wear leggings of the same color as your boots. Or, if you are feeling fun and playful, ditch the leggings and wear a pair of short socks and let it peek a bit from your boots. Just make sure that the color is in contrast with your boots.

3. Wear it with legging or tights. If you can rock leggings or tights, flat ankle boots are your best bet. Again, remember to choose solid colors for your tights or leggings and make sure to get the cropped style. Otherwise, you’ll look short and stumpy. The key point to remember is to give enough distance between your ankle boots and your tights or leggings, or whatever it is you choose to pair it with.
