Carine Roitfeld

Friday, January 14th, 2011

The big news that rocked the international world of fashion has been the sudden departure of France’s Vogue’s editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld. While the reason for her resignation remains a piercing mystery, we give homage to one of the world’s most fashionable and avant garde trend setters and envelope pushers the world of fashion has.

In her honor, I must highlight some of her most fabulous looks with some of her most fabulous pairs of shoes she is probably gifted with by the high end designers that she rubs elbows with at fashion shows! As one of the most internationally known fashionable women walking this planet right now, Carine knows how to bring the sexy in gladiator black high heels. Whoever thought that these laced up sandals could make such an imprint in the world of black high heels anyway? But leave it to Carine Roitfeld to smash our way of conventional thinking and lure us into the world of avant-garde-ism and start looking at things a bit differently. Carine wore these gorgeous black high heels with laces going all the way up the front with a complementary banded black skirt with a collared shirt tied playfully at the waist.

But in light of our colder weather, I believe Carine holds the title of always, and I mean always, donning the most chic outfit- no matter what the season is. In true winter form, one day outside a fashion show, Ms. Roitfeld was snapped by photographers wearing a knee length brown coat, buttoned at the waist to accentuate her figure. But to take an ordinary winter outfit and make it into something memorable, Carine wore a fabulous pair of over the knee boots with military-style buttons going all the way up her stems! It’s just that simple to take your plain get up and turn it into a high fashion like trend by putting on a pair of over the knee boots to accompany your winter-wear.

We may not be able to possess the wardrobe and shoe collection of one of fashion’s most lead-worthy women, but we can definitely browse through Make Me Chic’s collection of black over the knee boots to create our own editor chic outfits. A pair of black over the knee boots will fit comfortably over a pair of jeggings, leggings or tights. Skinny jeans are the way to go if you insist on wearing denim, but otherwise, try to stick to thin under garments so the boots will fit comfortably on top. We can all afford a few fashion tips from the head honchos of fashion, and there’s no one better than Ms. Carine Roitfeld herself!

All Bundled Up in Black

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Fashion gives you a lot of space for individuality and personal style when it comes to the changing seasons. But one piece of women’s fashion apparel that every single woman roaming this wide Earth must have, is a fabulous black coat!

Now the black coat is a staple piece in any woman’s wardrobe full of women’s fashion apparel. It really defies any and every outfit and can be the defining piece to your do no matter what is layered underneath it.

You can always see the direction of our fashion on the runways of the seasonal shows by our world’s hottest designers. One of my personal favorites, Fendi, showcased a different type of women’s black coat. The coat they designed had a soft black material- almost suede like, with a flirty flare at the bottom! Oh my, how I love the feminine look of a flare. The pretty ruffles it creates as the model sashays down the runway is priceless and very original for a common piece of clothing.

What I love more about this look is the way they paired the black coat with high heel shoes. Many winter and fall looks that accommodate a woman’s black coat are usually knee high boots or something more covering up for a woman’s legs. But the high heel shoes make the coat look very sexy and almost mysterious with the unconventional exposure of a woman’s legs.

However! Let us not discredit the classic look of wearing a pair of knee high boots with a black coat. The reason it’s been around for so long is because it is resilient in its ability to surpass all trends and still remain on top!

Whether you layer or leaves the coat as it is on its own, black on black is always chic and always in style. Ready to wear fashion is a toughie because even though you may see a look you love on the runway, it may not necessarily transpire the way you need it to on the streets and in your every day life.

But with a pair of any of your knee high boots, black would be especially convenient, wear any type of pants whether it be denim or skinnies. Next, you can start the fun with layering your tops with coordinating colors that won’t take away from the sleekness of your ensemble. To top it all off, a fabulous black coat will be what pulls it all together! Get your hands on your black coat and be ready to hit the streets this season.

Double Over for Fold-over Boots!

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Something we can always appreciate about the ever evolving world of fashion, are the great new twists and turns they put to some of our favorite simple must-have items. So, have you gotten your pair of fold over boots?

One of the major changes that I always appreciate, are the details and different things designers do to our collection of women’s boots. A new trend I’ve seen and taken note of, (and started collecting), are the fold over boots. Fashion boots have taken equal reign in the women’s boots department and have been more stylish and giving us women more of a selection in terms of flare.

Most boots have a real sleek look to them as they’re either fitted around your calves, or they have the slouchy look when they’re loose at the ankle. But the fold over fashion boots create a lovely in-between spot for these shoes and can go great with either a casual look or a more formal one.

There are so many different ways to wear these fold over boots. My personal favorite, would be with shorts and tights. I cannot emphasize how much I am loving the black tights with denim cutoffs look for the fall and winter. I just wish the weather would hurry up and allow us to. But with my pair of fold over boots, I wear my light denim cutoffs, black tights, and a plain v-neck shirt with a leather jacket. My fold over boots are a nice chestnut brown color, with a stiletto heel.

What’s unique about these shoes is although it’s baggy around your ankle, it creates a slimming effect because of its bulk in contrast to your legs. The skinny heel also gives you that boost in height and elongates your silhouette. The fold over boots is what grabs the eye with its slouchy but sexy look that finishes off your outfit.

Fashionistas worldwide have taken to this trend in boots as well. For less tolerant weather, leather pants, or skinny jeans work well with these fold over boots as well. They’re almost like your favorite pair of ankle boots, but with extra material that bunches up and hugs your ankles. You can wear these fold over ankle boots with pants, shorts, and even a dress or skirt.

These boots are not just limited to your casual street chic look, but can also ride with you into the night no matter where you’re going.

Buckle Up!

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

There is no doubt that this Fall is bringing all of the season’s greatest trends to the streets. No one can deny that Burberry’s Fall line was probably the biggest hit of the season and has set the tone for an endless amount of detailed styles that are being adopted into other areas of apparel and shoes.

One of my favorite trends hitting women’s boots is the generous application of buckles! Honestly, the buckle has become more of a decorative item on fashion boots than functional. But when it comes down to it, fashion trumps function. Right?

Burberry’s Fall 2010 Ready to Wear line debuted this fabulous fashion boot with shearling lining that peeks out when it’s all buckeld in by the, I don’t know, around 10 buckles? The question is, are 10 buckles really necessary on one boot? The answer: yes. Take a good look at a pair of fashion boots with a handful of buckles, and imagine it again with just one. Doesn’t it take away some of its fabulosity?

Women’s boots come in such a variety these days, it’s really fun to see what kind of changes are made to each pair to make it more special. It’s always thrilling to have that unique flair to your shoes that make your boots stand out from the rest. So keep an eye out for these buckles!

Boots that Ride High!

Friday, September 24th, 2010

With the coming of Fall, and all its glorious weather and fashion, one must always be prepared with an army of boots. The question is, have you stocked up on the hottest trend in boots?

This year, it’s all about the thigh high boots. The beauty of thigh high boots for women is its ability to draw all vibes out of you regardless of where you are or what time of the day it is. Whether you’re walking around town during the day, or out partying at night, thigh high boots are the perfect shoe for the fall and winter.

For a casual look, my personal favorite color to wear is a beautiful shade of gray. Honestly, black and brown does go with everything, and I do insist you have those as your go-to boots in your wardrobe. But for this year, you really do need to get your hands on a pair of gray suede thigh high boots. These gray thigh high boots are fabulous in that they can substitute your black and brown boots in almost any outfit. The color is so lush and classy, and it’s been the rage for all seasons of fashion this year, how can you go wrong with it?

Take any pair of your favorite denim jeans, and pull your gray suede thigh high boots over it and watch as it elongates and slims down your legs to create a fantastic silhouette. The rest is quite easy and you can have tons of fun with it. Your top can be something as simple and casual as a thermal, or snazzy with a leather jacket. Regardless, all will go perfectly with these boots. The thigh high boots are what’s going to give your outfit the oomph it needs. You can wear your most simple pieces of clothing, as long as you strap on these great pair of thigh high boots to match.
