Zebra Zest!

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Of all the prints to come into season as of this year, one of the most overlooked prints that are making it big now, is zebra print. And what better way is there to wear this fun and funky print than to wear it on a pair of high heels! Although high heel pumps come in just about any color and print, what better way to stand out than to wear a print that can be spotted from miles and miles away!

Although we have the safari trend to thank, zebra print has always been heralded as something vibrant and bold. When coming up with swanky new designs for high heel shoes, why not incorporate a print that is so beloved on clothes, that no matter what season arrives, designers have a hard time saying no to such a blend of patterns and colors? Even the powerhouse Louis Vuitton donned the zebra print on its silk blouses and gave the safari animal its roar and dominance in the fashion world.

Austrailian Vogue editor Christine Centenera shows us how to wear a hot piece of zebra print on a pair of high heel pumps in an effortless way that makes you wonder, “How come I didn’t think of that?” But for this exact reason, we have fashion blogs to thank as we are able to pull inspiration from just about any photo of a street fashionista, or a look straight from the runways.

With an enviably comfortable looking pair of gray sweat pants, Christine Centenera tops off her uber casual pair of pants with a white tee and a very fierce black fur coat. The texture of the coat works magically with the soft fabric of the sweat pants. And nothing beats the grand finale than a pair of fabulous high heel shoes. But we cannot just slip into any little ‘ol pair. No, Christine does the zebra print high heels to match the black and white code that her shirt and coat provide while giving the rest of her ensemble that extra punch needed to up the glam factor amidst wearing a pair of gray sweats. Who ever thought that a pair of zebra print high heel pumps could up the fasion ante so drastically?

Going Green with Envy!

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Keeping up with the trends and styles of the fashion world is not an easy task. Although it may seem effortless to just pull on whatever piece of women’s clothing you may feel drawn to, we are all constantly being influenced and persuaded by new trends and old ones too. Although I have to admit, it’s absolutely divine being creative and spinning off of recent trends, it’s also nice to stick to your permanent items. Yes, the ones that no matter what the magazines and designers say, it will always be in style to you! To me, that is where the olive green collared shirt comes in.

The militant olive green collared shirt is just enough fashion and function for me to reach for whenever I want to feel comfortable and casual chic at the same time. Women’s clothing can be a bit cumbersome at times depending on the style and outfit. Depending on your day and mood, we have different levels of tolerance for tricky clothing- think straps, buckles, buttons, etc. So it’s always a nice breather to be able to resort to your stash of comfortable clothes.

The easiest way to style a simple collared shirt with a nice olive green tint to it, would be the all American way: with jeans and fashion boots. But when you think about it, almost any top is acceptable with a pair of shape hugging jeans and some fashion boots! So whether it’s the coveted olive green collared shirt, or a plain white shirt, this combination gives you that cowgirl look without going too Texas.

Fashion Setters in Leather Shifters!

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Do you ever have one of those days where you wake up, stare at your closet, and think I have nothing to wear! Fear not my ladies, all it takes is a little inspiration from the runway to liven up your drab mood and bring out the fabulosity that lies within every woman and out comes all the fun women’s fashion clothing and black thigh high boots to play!

Yes, it was a sunny day when I decided to fare the weather and go outside for a quick coffee date with my sisters. But little did I know how efficient my black thigh high boots would become in keeping my body at just the right temperature while keeping my outfit at maximum chic! But what the best part of this whole ensemble was, just browsing through some fun runway fashion and coming across this great black leather jumper from Michael Kors’ latest runway show. While looking through my own collection of dresses, I found an old rendition of the leather jumper so I pulled out my own dress and black thigh high boots and bam! Michael Kors is now officially in my closet and ready to go!

Leather has become the new cotton for fashion as of lately, and we can’t hate on its glorious smell and tough texture as we rummage through our textured clothes looking for something fun and flashy. The black leather jumper has come in all shapes and sizes to work with any body type and essentially become a shift for most women as it sits comfortable on your frame and works with your shape to give you the ultimate biker chic look that’s ready for the bar or the runway.

What’s even better, is this excellent piece of women’s fashion clothing can be worn in a variety of ways for you to have fun with. On a hot summer day, you can wear it as is. On a colder more brisk day, try wearing a tight long sleeved black shirt underneath, but please don’t ever forget the thigh high boots. The reason is, with the perfect length of the black leather jumper, showing leg is always an option, but keeping things chic with a pair of thigh high boots takes your outfit beyond any casual jumper-look and brings it to the runway level. It’s funny how a pair of shoes can make such a big difference, but this is exactly why fashion and shoes are so much fun, right ladies?

Perfect in Polka Dots!

Monday, May 9th, 2011

Marc Jacobs has revived the simple joy of wearing polka dots! In pure 101 Dalmatians tribute, the simple print that has an elegant elementary feel about it, has come raging back into the world of fashion and is apparent on the streets as we see the trendiest of women flaunting their women’s fashion clothing via polka dot pants!

What an unlikely print to be seen on wide legged trousers but it’s become almost adorably irresistible as women in these trendy women’s clothing show us all the right ways to wear it! When working with such a busy pattern, think simplicity as being key when throwing together the rest of your do! Women’s fashion clothing can be mixed and matched straight off the runway, or with simple solids to balance out the boldness of the print.

One of my favorite street-style fashionistas is Eva. She was snapped outside of a fashion show for the past barrage of Fall fashion shows wearing navy blue polka dotted pants with a white polka dotted blouse on top. Trendy women’s clothing is so fun to play with and doing polka dot on polka dot isn’t considered a fashion faux paux. Thank Marc Jacobs for that as the runway shows us that doubling up on the print is encouraged- not shunned!

But to take a pair of polka dotted pants and bring it to reality, and the fashion of the every day woman- whether you’re out grinding or studying your heart out, take these polka dotted pants and pair it with a soft sweater or a solid print collared shirt to even out the WOW factor of the polka dots! These polka dotted pants are all lengthy and want ever so desperately to elongate the look of your legs, so give it an extra ounce of oomph by wearing a pair of high heels.

Try a bold color such as red or blue in the high heels to give the polka dots something to be jealous of! You can never be too much and the sexiest way to hint at your fashion sense is subtle but bold. Such a balance is fun to seek after and the more funky the pattern, the more wild you can get! What I can genuinely appreciate about the polka dot print is the way it takes you back to your childhood days where polka dotted tank tops and onsies were more likely to line your dresser than a pair of fabulous polka dotted trousers. But that’s the beauty of growing up and being an adult player in the fashion world. Have fun with it and don’t take polka dots too seriously. Just bring them out to play!
