Tingly Tassels!

Monday, August 8th, 2011

When wearing a pair of high heels, and undoubtedly while collecting your own shoe-store-like quantity, the rush of something new and fun with a pair of fabulous high heel pumps is almost as exciting as your very own birthday! I squeal in excitement as these days, we are seeing fashion designers take a more creative free edge with their designs of high heels that we definitely get to reap the benefits of.

An unlikely idea for a pair of high heel pumps, would be to add some sashaying material to it to add to the drama of the already sky high length. As if it’s not enough to accentuate the height of a high heel by simply giving it a Louboutin-like 4 inches, why not add tassels to it? Remember tassels? Those bunched up pieces of material that hang from various zippers or corners of your bag? Who knew that they would be this fabulous on the heels of some of our fashionable leading ladies.

Blake Lively is no newbie to the red carpet scene, and knowing that this young star is a professional at shopping, it’s no wonder she looks for something new with high heel pumps! When Blake hit the bright lights in a silver women’s dress, rather than keeping the dress detailed, she resorted to a pair of white and gold tassel high heels to complement the simple design and color scheme of the dress. A self-professed stylist (she says she really doesn’t have one!), Blake nailed it by keeping her women’s dress as low key as Blake Lively can make a dress, and upping the ante on her tassel shoes. How fun! (more…)

Blushworthy Clutch!

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Do you ever have that awkward moment where you wish you had something in your hands to play with to keep you busy? Well, lucky for us, we always can resort to a playful clutch to keep our hands preoccupied at formal events where even the champagne can’t calm our nerves. Women’s accessories do not merely limit themselves to sunglasses or jewelry. We’ve been blessed with every sort of knick nack being designated as accessories for women even if they have a questionable function. Who cares! If it looks fabulous and channels your inner fashionista, it’s sure to be golden!

These days, with color being all the rage, it’s safe to say that pink has been rather overrated. With our designated shade of womanhood being pink, it’s making its comeback by creeping in the form of a clutch or a quiet pair of shoes to make the ultimate accessory for women- especially our red carpet ravens who have been photographed wearing complimentary women’s dresses to match.

Princess Style!

Monday, July 11th, 2011

After the biggest wedding televised since Princess Diana, it is unanimously decided that Princess Kate Middleton has become a fashion icon. At this point, every venue of style exposure tells us that Kate’s style is one to watch. And when we take a look at the inundating photographs that spill through, it is hard to deny that her style of grace and class is one that is worth emulating.

Women’s fashion clothing will follow the lead of some of the world’s leading ladies. With a throng of admirers following the Jason Wu style of Michelle Obama, the world is carefully watching Kate Middleton for her latest women’s dresses she chooses. Once we see specific designs of dresses Kate decides to wear on a walk out with her Prince, or at an event, the green light is on for the rest of the world to follow in the innovative classy style of Kate’s women’s fashion clothing.

On one of Kate’s famous strolls, she was spotted wearing a red suit with a matching red skirt. As a head’s up to the working women who are still looking for a classy suit skirt combo, Princess Kate has given us a head’s up with the sexy suit that looks both docile yet graceful and bold at the same time. The jacket of the red suit is cut and tailored to snugly fit Kate’s torso and not swallow her up.

Whenever you are wearing formal wear, it is essential that you wear clothing whose corners and hemlines are perfectly in line with your figure. Black buttons and a thin black belt at the waist give Kate’s red suit a little bit of flair that also keeps the rest of her outfit in line. What I personally love about this outfit has to be the way Kate kept all the rest of her outfit black and simple. Even right down to her black knee high boots. Most of the time, we see women wear high heels or flats.  Black knee high boots may not be a girl’s number one choice due to its association with casual wear, however, take note from Princess Kate and try wearing your boots with your office wear but make sure your wearing black tights with it too. Let’s keep our eyes peeled for upcoming trends in clothing and shoes that Princess Kate will signal to us.  So far with her superb taste in women’s dresses and her iconic wedding dress have given us more than enough proof that she is to become a fashion icon worthy of fashion ready to follow.

Pocketful of Fashion!

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Face it ladies, we all share the same struggles at times, and when it comes to dressing up, there is a labyrinth of issues we’re all dealing with the issue of: where do I put my phone?! The truth is, when designing party dresses, the priority is of creating a cute cheap party dress for you to rock out in, not where your ID, and valuables are supposed to hang. When you’re going sans clutch or purse, we do not have to fret any longer! Why is this? Because now kind and considerate designers have designed party dresses equipped with cute pockets to solve one of the night’s greatest dilemmas! Yay!

I am a firm believer that pocketed cheap party dresses are going to be around to stay. Not only are they adorable, but the function of these little pockets are going to keep so many of us women from wandering around searching for our lost phone or keys.

Not only are these  dresses going to grace the closets of our wardrobes, but they are also finding their way onto the figures of some of Hollywood’s fashionistas. Malin Akerman wore a sweet strapless red dress with little pockets sitting at the hips for a red carpet event. Even if you have no intention of using those pockets, even though I do rave about how fabulous they’d be for convenience’s sake, the detail of the pocket flap and the button to close it adds something special to Malin’s photo-ready look. Pairing a red dress with a pair of nude or gray high heels never hurts either.

Hot Top Friendly!

What’s fun with fashion is, when one major trend appears on the runways, not only do we get to take the literal translation of that trend to the streets, but we can take bits and pieces of the biggest trends and apply it to some of our favorite pieces of women’s fashion.

Case in point! We cannot deny that the comeback of sexy leather in women’s dresses. But rather than the typical leather dress with the mod shape to it, we’re seeing softer fabrics combined with the hard texture of the black leather in a beautiful blend to create feminine women’s dresses that can be worn by women of all sizes and shapes, on the red carpet or on the streets.

Celebrities always give us the thumbs up when you know a trend has hit the big market, and it’s no different with these leather bodice dresses that are being spotted by the paparazzi and photogs on the red carpet! Some of my favorite styles of the dresses come straight off the red carpet as celebrities and stylists take their own interpretation of the leather bodice dresses!
