This week’s theme is American Rebel, and I can’t help but to think of the 90′s rebel herself Courtney Love. Courtney Love, for those of you that may be too young to remember, was the lead singer of Indie Rock group Hole. The group was formed in 1989 and debuted their first album in 1991. The group lasted well through the 90′s releasing their final album in 1998. Shortly after Love began working on a solo career. Courtney Love was known for her party girl demeanor and her american grunge feel, and we LOVED her music in the 90′s. She was also the wife of the late Kurt Cobain, giving her the seal of American rebellion approval.  Courtney Love is still active in her career, continuing to pursue music and acting. Style wise, she’s the perfect example of what it looks like to be an American Rebel.

This week we’ve been chatting it up about our new Asassyn Heel!! We’re in love with the shoe, you’re in love with the shoe, and she’s in love with the shoe! You’re probably wondering who SHE is, right? Two words, Lady Gaga.  We continue to be inspired by Lady Gaga’s ever changing style. She’s not afraid to push the envelope and really dive into fashion head first. Our Asassyn shoes are truly a tribute to her style and cutting edge take on fashion. Take a look at a few pics of Lady Gaga in her heel less platforms. You can see how she would inspire a shoe like the Asassyn.

Bieber’s BACK!

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from the teen heartthrob, Justin Bieber! This week Justin broke his silence with his new release, “Boyfriend,” and by listening to the track we can tell that he’s all grown up! The song talks about making a special girl his girlfriend, and the different ways he intends to spoil her.  The song finds the perfect balance between the underage fan base that Justin has already established, and the 18 and over crowd he’ll be breaking into. This song is perfect for the radio and the club! “Boyfriend” showcases Bieber’s rapping talents as well as his new silky falsetto.  It’s so crazy to think that this is the same Bieber that was singing “Baby” to us in 2010. “Boyfriend” is very reminiscent of some of Justin Timberlake’s early work, and even the late work he did with N’Sync before he went solo. With this song being his first single, and being comparable to the likes of Justin Timberlake and other R&B artist Usher. This is definitely a great first step for the new Bieber movement.  Word is Mike Posner, who worked on this single with Justin Bieber, will also be working closely with the crooner on his new album. We hope to see him gain momentum…but hey, it’s Justin Bieber. He can definitely make a Belieber out of the nay sayers!

Beyonce’s Furry Bundle of Joy

The ever stylish Beyonce was spotted out in New York Tuesday, with her and Jay-z’s 3 month old daughter Blue Ivy.  Beyonce was seen wearing an oversized heather grey cardigan paired with a darker grey pair of skinny jeans. Beyonce set her look off with a bright pair of yellow stilettos and black circle sunglasses. What about Blue, you ask? We haven’t been able to see much of the newborn outside of baby slings and shoes options, but we know given her parents she’s stylish! Beyonce was sure to keep her warm and close in a fur baby wrap. No word on whether the wrap is faux fur or not, but we imagine if it’s not Beyonce will be receiving a few phone calls from PETA.

We reported earlier this week about Kim Kardashian being flour bombed by an avid anti fur supporter. Although PETA denies involvement in the act against the Kardashian , they also support the message that was supposed to be transmitted in the action. With anti fur activist taking physical measures to get their points across, not so sure this fur number would be the best idea for Pop Icon Beyonce Knowles.

Beyonce is slated to hit the stage in three exclusive, Memorial Day weakened, shows. This will be her first time in concert post having baby Blue! We’re excited to see her costuming choices for the show, and to see her perform!!

GLAAD Media Awards Looks

Many celebrities were spotted this weekend in New York attending the GLAAD media awards. While we’ve recently been falling in love with color blocking, many opted for solid spring colors for the event and allowed textures to take over. Lala Vazquez took to the red carpet in a soft red dress with an alternating srtipe print that accented her curves perfectly. She complimented this effortless look with a nude pump and a color blocked clutch.

Dakota Fanning was also in attendance of the awards wearing a crème dress with gold accented tribal print design. Dakota accessorized her look with a gold bangle, gold sandals, and a gold clutch. Her look was a modern take on the classic wrap draping.

Writer, Janet Mock, was also a part of the solid dress wearers. Her Blue number not only alternated in shades, but also in pattern. I would definitely give her the best dressed award for the evening. With the diagonal stripes and sheer sections complimenting her shape, tied together with a silver clutch, and royal blue mary janes, this look is hands down the winner.

GLAAD, Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation , has worked with the news, entertainment, and social media for over 25 years to bring culture changing stories of LGBT people into millions of homes and work places every day. The GLAAD Media awards recognize and honor various branches of the media for their oustanding representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives.  It was great to see these celebrities putting a fashionable foot forward to support the cause!
