Princess Style!

Monday, July 11th, 2011

After the biggest wedding televised since Princess Diana, it is unanimously decided that Princess Kate Middleton has become a fashion icon. At this point, every venue of style exposure tells us that Kate’s style is one to watch. And when we take a look at the inundating photographs that spill through, it is hard to deny that her style of grace and class is one that is worth emulating.

Women’s fashion clothing will follow the lead of some of the world’s leading ladies. With a throng of admirers following the Jason Wu style of Michelle Obama, the world is carefully watching Kate Middleton for her latest women’s dresses she chooses. Once we see specific designs of dresses Kate decides to wear on a walk out with her Prince, or at an event, the green light is on for the rest of the world to follow in the innovative classy style of Kate’s women’s fashion clothing.

On one of Kate’s famous strolls, she was spotted wearing a red suit with a matching red skirt. As a head’s up to the working women who are still looking for a classy suit skirt combo, Princess Kate has given us a head’s up with the sexy suit that looks both docile yet graceful and bold at the same time. The jacket of the red suit is cut and tailored to snugly fit Kate’s torso and not swallow her up.

Whenever you are wearing formal wear, it is essential that you wear clothing whose corners and hemlines are perfectly in line with your figure. Black buttons and a thin black belt at the waist give Kate’s red suit a little bit of flair that also keeps the rest of her outfit in line. What I personally love about this outfit has to be the way Kate kept all the rest of her outfit black and simple. Even right down to her black knee high boots. Most of the time, we see women wear high heels or flats.  Black knee high boots may not be a girl’s number one choice due to its association with casual wear, however, take note from Princess Kate and try wearing your boots with your office wear but make sure your wearing black tights with it too. Let’s keep our eyes peeled for upcoming trends in clothing and shoes that Princess Kate will signal to us.  So far with her superb taste in women’s dresses and her iconic wedding dress have given us more than enough proof that she is to become a fashion icon worthy of fashion ready to follow.

Green With Envy!

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Before I introduce one of my favorite pieces of women’s fashion apparel right now, I have to confess that this is one of my most worn pieces of fashion I currently am crazy about. If you’re a denim kinda lady like yours truly, you have to consider what fashion has deemed as the new blue jeans, which is: green denim! Oh yes! You don’t have to be green with envy to fit into this style because ladies, green has become the new black and with our new wave with color blocking mixed in with our eco-friendly trends, we can now wear green without needing a Saint Patrick’s Day excuse to flaunt it on our bottoms!

With such a bold piece of women’s fashion apparel, you may need some style inspiration, and proof that this is indeed worn out on the streets. Other colors may have passed the approval of fashion society easily, but green is one color that I’ve personally seen many women hesitate with. The beauty of the new green denim pants? They come in so many different shades that you are not limited to just one!

Vivacious Versace!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

One European house that never lets anyone down has to be that of Versace. For the pre-fall showcase, the designers at Versace unveiled a series of artistic pieces of women’s apparel, mixed with the new edge in women’s boots that keep us on the edge of our seats as we eagerly wait to see what we can start to piece together for our own wardrobe!

As shocking as this may sound, blue knee high boots are now looking awfully appealing in all the right ways right now! With a silk dress in a light khaki splashed with a crimson red and cobalt blue paisley arrangement, Versace’s always bringing us the newest and freshest looks of the more daring side of fashion. And what better way to wear this gorgeous dress that makes all 3 colors work together in a luxurious gaze than to don a pair of stretch knee high boots in a bold blue that keeps your colors all aligned but makes it pop in an understanding combination of neutrals and bright hues that just plainly work!

If anyone thought that bright patent leather knee high boots would be on the threshold of high fashion, I don’t know that anyone would nod their head and even consider the idea. But leave it to Versace to take something that may make one cringe with their own mental image of such a color combination, and whip up these creations that make you want to reach out and try this look on for yourself! Stretch knee high boots are always fun no matter what you’re wearing- whether they end up being the main event, or just peek out inbetween a skirt and a coat. But consider wearing a pair of knee high boots that are a loud pop of color to bring a new you out!

But my favorite look from Versace’s collection, and trust me, it was hard to just choose one, had to be the swimmers parka looking trench coat that took the shearling trend that’s everywhere right now, but making the fur lining red, and pairing those with knee high boots in animal print! I imagine it’s difficult to take what’s hot this season and put a spin to it that hasn’t been done before, but we give props to Versace for taking two styles that are rampant all over the malls and stores, and once again, bringing it to another level with their twist on women’s boots. Animal print will always be a staple in a fabulous woman’s closet, so shop Make Me Chic’s collection for your pair! Happy hunting!

Burberry’s Boots!

Monday, January 10th, 2011

Burberry has been on a roll for season upon season now as we see that they are the masters of cold seasons with their legendary trench coats and winter wear. But more than their clothes this time around, you can not ignore the classic black knee high boots that debuted on Burberry’s runway under all their winter and fall apparel!

If you have yet to get your hands on a pair of stretch knee high boots for the winter, you must put all your holiday tasks aside and go get yours now. As Burberry’s pre-fall collection shows us, it is an essential piece of our wardrobe this season and like I say with certain key items in a woman’s shoe collection, this shoe can really go with anything.

Burberry has used the black knee high boots in just about every which way you can imagine. The ultimate winter fashion form of wearing these fabulous boots, is to grab a lush faux fur black coat lined and trimmed with all the fur you like creating a glamorous east coast vibe. Whether you choose to wear a skirt or a pair of shorts underneath, make sure to pile on your layers with a thick set of stocking or leggings. Lastly, hike up your stretch knee high boots to create a tight look with your legs and knee high boots.

With the holidays taking up everyone’s weekends, and just events in general to attend, don’t rule out your knee high boots to wear underneath some of your formal wear as well. Burberry has shown us through their showcase of their pre-fall collection, that black stretch knee high boots can be elegant as well underneath a colorblock dress lined with cute tufts of fur.

Not only does Burberry give us their blessing in wearing knee high boots underneath fashionable party dresses, we also see that how chic they look underneath a long dress as well. Whether the dress is a solid color or a floral print, pairing it with black leather, or pleather, creates a hard and soft play with textures that’s unlikely but fashionable.

A little fashion secret that can work with stretch knee high boots is you can also wear loose trouser pants and keep warm with your knee high boots underneath as if they’re a pair of warm socks!

So no matter what you decide to wear in this weather, Burberry’s boots are the way to go! But if you’re not ready to drop some major dollar bills for the designer brand, shop Make Me Chic for your affordable alternative that keeps you looking sharp without making your bank account drop. Stay chic!

A Coat of Sunshine!

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

One color that is commonly overlooked during the colder days, is the summer shade of yellow. How this happy color is overlooked is beyond me, because I am here to resurrect it from the summer to make its rightful statement in the winter and fall!

Yellow is a color when worn, you must make it a very intentional shade. We’re lucky in that this shade is quite versatile on women’s clothing, and can be worn with a variety of other hues to complement it. But as we’re on the topic of coats, why not showcase how to wear a perfectly sweet yellow coat?

On the runways for the Spring 2011 Fashion shows, we saw a plethora of yellow being paired up with shades of black and gray. My personal favorite is a pairing of yellow and gray on a skirt from the designer Lanvin. Taking some inspiration from this gorgeous and quite simple number, we can fashion our winter women’s clothing to fit the same combination of colors, just with different articles of clothing.

Imagine with me, a pair of dark gray or heather gray pants, a simple top and a yellow coat on top. Pair that with a pair of fabulous black knee high boots, and you’re set to hit the streets looking like a burst of sunshine! The coat and knee high boots are quite functional as well so you will definitely be prepared to battle the rain, sleet or snow in these winter essentials.

The majority of people collect coats in the common shades of black and gray. So why not take a stand against the darkness of these coats and come out in something that will turn heads and guarantees an explosion of color no matter where you go?
