Get Jennifer Lopez’s Ankle Boots for Less

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

She’s known for her famous booty more than her singing prowess. Yup, you guessed it right. We’re talking about Jennifer Lopez. While she no longer wants to be called JLo (probably because it’s too hip for her age), the Latina pop diva continues to be an icon both in the music and fashion industry. Her recent comeback, thanks to American Idol, has earned her praises and positive reviews while others are still undecided since she’s split from former husband, Marc Anthony.

In the meantime, why don’t we talk a look at one of Jennifer Lopez’s most loved fashion choices when it comes to her collection of ankle boots and how you can get them for free. Isn’t that just great?

Jennifer Lopez is known to love her animal prints. She may not be as popular to animal rights groups for that one but she has been seen wearing bold animal prints in more than one occasion. She loves it so much that she would want to have her own animal collection tops someday. Seen here is Jennifer wearing a pair of $980- Brian Atwood Didier Leopard-Print Haircalf Ankle Boots. She paired it with a brown mini-dress, and despite her age, she was able to pull it off exquisitely. It sold out just hours after she was seen wearing this one.

Well, $980.00 for a pair of shoes is something only celebrities might be able to afford. Fortunately for you, MakeMeChic.com offers a similarly-looking pair that you can get for a fraction of the price. Just as bold, or maybe even bolder, is this pair of ankle booties from Promise. The Welling Leopard Haircalf Ankle Boots costs only $45.00 and already, it comes with a leopard haircalf upper with strappy details. It also features an inside zipper to make sure that the overall look is smooth and seamless. You won’t be at war with animal rights groups on this one because it is artificially made from haircalf so you aren’t hurting any animal at all.

Other options would be the Paco Elastic Strap Ankle Boots in Leopard from Red Circle for only $26.90 and the Charisma Peep Toe Lace Ankle Boots in Leopard for only $20.00.

Animal Print Wedge Boots at Work: Strut It, Girl!

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

Earlier on, we discussed how you could pull off wearing purple ankle boots at work. While it may seem too bold for the workplace, nothing is impossible for the very fashion-forward fashionista. Now, another bold thing to do at work, as if wearing purple ankle boots isn’t enough, is to wear animal print wedge boots! Yup, you read it right. While leopard wedge boots are more appropriate for clubs and other similar establishments, you can still pull them off when you go to work.

Spice up your outfit with wedge boots printed in leopard, snake, and other equally bold patterns by making sure that the rest of your outfit is plain and in neutral shades. It’s risk-free and it’s low-key. Not everyone can immediately notice that you are actually wearing animal print wedge boots since they’d look at your outfit first, assumingly. The dress should be office-friendly so they can let you get away with wearing an unusual pair of boots to work.

When it comes to accessories, they should be low-key as well. Don’t call unwanted attention with your wedge boots AND accessories. As with your entire outfit, keep it simple but elegantly understated. Make sure that the attention is directed towards your wedge boots and nothing else.

Here are some popular choices that you could wear at work:

For only $23.90, the Zantee1 Lace Up with Tassel Wedge Boots also doubles as a pair of ankle boots. The shoelaces end with a tassel and it features a faux suede upper with front lace detail too. It comes with a 5” wedge and 1” platform.

Another option would be the Anette06 Leopard Buckle Wedge Boots in Black. It comes in three different colors – brown, red, and black. It is less bolder than other pairs of animal print wedge boots as the leopard prints are only limited in the back, making it a two-tone wedge booties. The style is color block, a popular form of fashion seen in cloths and shoes. Available for only $30.80.

The Do’s of Wearing Ankle Boots, Wedge Boots, and Other Pairs of Women’s Shoes (PART II)

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

So previously, we started talking about the rules that govern women’s shoes – wearing them and owning them. Wedge boots, ankle boots, high heels, flats, and platform pumps are must-haves for any woman but there are certain guidelines when it comes to actually wearing them. These tips should help you the next time you shop for wedge boots and other pairs of women’s shoes.

Kitten heels may be awkward to look at but did you know that they actually make the legs look slimmer? There are certain pairs of women’s shoes that make your legs look slimmer but it entails really high heels that become uncomfortable to wear after some time. With kitten heels, your legs will give the impression of being thinner without the worries of experiencing soreness on your feet.

Now, if you really want to make an impression, why not shop for red wedge boots? If you want to go the extra mile, then invest in a pair of red knee-high wedge boots? They’re sexy and they can instantly transform your look from drab to fab. Of course, any pair of women’s shoes in red is automatically seductive so feel free to choose the type of shoe you really want.

In case you haven’t tried it out yet, skinny jeans are a great pair to stiletto heel boots. Ankle boots can be worn with skinny jeans to and they also make a great pair. Just make sure that the boots are at least above the ankle, but don’t go to the extreme length of wearing it with thigh-high boots. Honestly, they just look tacky and trashy.

Last week, we talked about how cute and girly flats are. If you are the type who doesn’t like dresses but still wants to wear flats, then pair it with Capri jeans or any long jeans that you can instantly fold for that casual look. Tapered jeans and skinny jeans would also go well with flats.

Now, are you inspired enough to do some shopping?

The Do’s of Wearing Ankle Boots, Wedge Boots, and Other Pairs of Women’s Shoes (PART I)

Friday, April 13th, 2012

Women’s shoes like ankle boots, wedge boots, platform heels, and flats come with certain rules, especially when it comes to wearing them. As rules, you are free to break them but you must carry it with confidence, otherwise, people will think of you as fluke and you definitely don’t want that. Wearing purple ankle boots, wedge boots, and high heel pumps are very high-fashion and not everyone can pull them off. So, to find out what are the “do’s” of wearing women’s shoes, read on:

Just like every woman needs her LBD, every woman should also have a sexy and great pair of black high heels. It can be high heel pumps or you can take it a notch higher by opting for ankle boots. The great thing about black heels is that you can wear them anywhere with absolutely anything. It can match any style – casual, formal, elegant, laid-back.

Patterned ankle boots, high heels, and wedge boots are great pairs to own and you are more than welcome to experiment with the different patterns available. Choose among plaid, checkered, striped, floral, or any printed design and pair it with any plain outfit to keep the eyes on your gorgeous pair of shoes.

Cute flats are perfect for spring; in fact, you can wear them all year long. Flats are really cute and they are very comfortable, much like wedge boots, so you can wear them all day without worrying about hurting your feet at the end of the day. Pair them with dresses or shorts for the ultra-chic look.

When it comes to work shoes, you can easily wear any kind of women’s shoes. Have you ever tried wearing purple ankle boots at work? Yes, you can do that! When choosing the right pair of heeled shoes, make sure that the heels are narrow though. It is more appropriate in the workplace. On the contrary, if you will be on your feet all day, it’s best to opt for stacked or wide heels because they provide more comfort and your feet won’t ache as much if you are wearing narrow-heeled shoes.

Next week, we finish our two-part special on what you should do (and have) when it comes to women’s shoes. See you then!

Shock and Awe with Purple Ankle Boots… at Work!

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

Ankle boots can be worn anytime, anywhere. Though they wouldn’t be the first choice of women’s shoes to wear at work, most women still prefer ankle boots because they are very comfortable and they are available in so many different styles. Of course, in the workplace, it would be very difficult to experiment with a variety of fashion statements. The workplace dictates a special kind of dress code – one that commands respect and authority. So, with that in mind, is it appropriate to wear PURPLE, yes, purple ankle boots at work?

While ankle boots are more fashionable then professional-looking, you can actually still wear them at work and with purple ankle boots, there are ways to go around it so you can pull them off at work and still command respect and authority.

Wear it with sailor pants. Sailor pants can be worn both at work and outside work. Because they are universally flattering, women are bound to own a pair of two of this type of pants. The flare cuffs makes wearing ankle boots more comfortable because it tucks the boots under but reveals the fashionable pair once you sit down. Standing up also creates the illusion of longer legs. Now, since you are already wearing sailor pants, why not complete the sailor look by accessorizing with an equally stylish scarf and purple button-down shirt?

Another look you can toy with is by matching purple ankle boots with an A-line skirt. Never wear it with a pencil skirt or a full skirt. Your best option would be an A-line skirt that ends just an inch above or below the knee. Blue is a perfect complement for purple so choose a skirt or a dress in a rich or dark blue shade. You can also wear tights if you are the conservative type and it would still look fashionable and professional.

It’s always fun to experiment with different looks but there is a place and time for that. When it comes to the workplace, you should always stick with the classics if you are unsure if the look is professional enough. But then again, you’ll never know until you try, right?
