#ThrowbackThursday

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

This week’s theme is American Rebel, and I can’t help but to think of the 90′s rebel herself Courtney Love. Courtney Love, for those of you that may be too young to remember, was the lead singer of Indie Rock group Hole. The group was formed in 1989 and debuted their first album in 1991. The group lasted well through the 90′s releasing their final album in 1998. Shortly after Love began working on a solo career. Courtney Love was known for her party girl demeanor and her american grunge feel, and we LOVED her music in the 90′s. She was also the wife of the late Kurt Cobain, giving her the seal of American rebellion approval.  Courtney Love is still active in her career, continuing to pursue music and acting. Style wise, she’s the perfect example of what it looks like to be an American Rebel.

Make Me Chic Monday: Lynne Gabriel

Monday, May 21st, 2012

Describing her style as chic and trendy, it’s no surprise we fell in love with this fashionista immediately! Lynne Gabriel, this week’s Chic of the Week, is showing off her spring style in a haltered shirt with a mesh bustline and embroidered detailed skirt. She’s accessorized her look with braided lace and crotchet bracelets, a black and gold statement necklace, and a soft anklet to accent her taupe colored pumps. Lynne says she loves following the trend of fashion, but also dresses down at times in just a t shirt and jeans. After taking a look at her blog, I definitely can see that she’s RIGHT ON with the trends. The best part about Lynne, is her ability to incorporate her personal style with what we’re currently seeing.

Take this week to fall in love with your Chic of the Week, Lynne Gabriel

#ThrowbackThursday

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

This week it’s all about the Feline print, but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this trend! Check out the celebs below donning their fiesty prints in 2011. While this was such a short time ago, the trend from then to now still looks a bit different. With Summer 2012 we’re seeing more refined silhouettes and draping in the dresses being designed. We’re still rockin the maxi dresses and maxi skirts, but we’re incorporating the high lo hem trend as well.  With the cropped front and trained back on these styles we’re able to show off those summer tanned legs day and night. Similar to Naomi Campbell and Rihanna below, we’re also seeing animal print in color! This summer we’ll be seeing more neon prints and bolder colors keeping up with this season’s color palette.

Wear it Wednesday: Summer Feline

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Summer is around the corner, so the question is “What do I do with my Fall clothing?” Ladies, we have you covered! Bring those fall animal prints to Summer by complimenting them with lighter colors and softer fabrics. In fashion, transition and reinvention is key. Here are a few ways to reinvent your feline prints for the Summer!

Drape:

Spring and Summer seasons are all about light weight fabrics and airy designs. This is the perfect way to incorporate your feline prints this season. Try on a leopard print maxi dress similar to the runway style above. This look can be work with flat sandals for a casual say look, or heeled sandals for a more night or midday look.  Another great way to rock this trend to the fullest is in summer neons. Leopard print can be found in a variety of colors, branching out from it’s traditional black and brown shades.

Compliment:

As we’ve talked about before, this season’s color palette is pretty bright and playful. Corals and Sea Greens go GREAT with Leopard print and transition the look seamlessly from Fall to Spring. Try pairing a sheer leopard print shirt with a coral colored skirt. Complete this look with a pair of wedge sandals and coral accessories for your summer feline look.

Accessorize:

If you’re not quite ready to take on the bold prints on your clothing, you can ALWAYS accessorize your look to fit the trend. Leopard print clutches are the perfect accessory for any occasion and look great with traditional Spring and Summer wear. Really make the leopard print pop by accessorizing against a solid ensemble. Denim shorts coupoled with a denim button down shirt pictured above look amazing with a leopard print clutch.
